See AllDestiny 2 Has Hit a New Low
You are looking at a burned out crowd of people.
The content systems released over the past 4 years since Shadowkeep Launched seasons with the DCV. Have a cut and dry system for the msot part. Making a lot of the content feel the same.
With the release of Final Shape there was a boycott of the preorder and many people stood behind it and got refunds.
Granted I still play and its the only game that keeps me occupied. Undoing the sunset brought some people back. However in the long run its the lowest selling Expansion in Destiny 2.
With today's economy playing a factor for some. Along with the difficulty of making real life friends and connections over the past few years since covid. Some people just are not playing games anymore and moved onto real life. Meanwhile for a game losing its population. The questions come down to their insistent bans of things like xim for accessibility usage. Not cronus. Or the bans for afk farming when it was always a thing and yet allow checkpoint bots to work.
In the long run the community as a whole always wanted all the content to stay in the game. So cutting ps4 and xbox one support and getting that going would suffice. THe original plan for Destiny announced to the public was a 10 year game with the same platform, weapons, and gear. Just 3 years after lauch they made a sequel with no original content or carry over of wapons etc.
In short the game started with a collection of developers that spent a lot of time figuring out small details in game. Meanwhile the current developers are not the same crowd and seem to be using cookie cutter formulas to make content. Making it feel like the same grind continually. Leaving people thinking its a job more so than a game. And burning people out.
Granted the newest content is likely some of the best ever developed. It seems like it might be too late.
