See AllMagic: The Gathering's Commander Bans Have Me Worried About Making My Ideal Deck
While It's important to look for similarities, usually card that get banned really swing a game in advantage to a player. Nadu wasn't just banned for long non-deterministic combos. Nadu activity ramps you at the same time giving you a huge grip of cards, ideally full of interaction to stop players from stopping you, and if you do interact, it can just draw them more. And that can be done for way less mana than any Flubs combo. Now can you create a game state where a Flubs can do a similar thing? Sure! Take any 5 synergistic green/blue permanents and somethings bound to break. But the fact that Nadu did so much on its own and just took 1 or 2 peices to completely snap a game in half is what the problem is and why it was banned. So don't worry, push that little frog as much as you'd like. I'm confident he's no where even close to a ban. Personally, i love seeing Flubs hit the table, it's topdeck.deck, its play patterns are fun and interesting, i can't say the same for Nadu. Also If turn length was the only deciding factor, every Green/blue pilot would be shaking in their boots.
Hope that helps alleviate some worry!
