I agree the article is saying stuffs that are just wrong about the game but, if you haven't played the original Sky SC yet, you should definitely give the upcoming remake a try. Everything happened in the first part serves as foundation for the second part to continue on, so every questions in FC will be answered in SC, you will see a lots of character development in it, and the story pacing will be much faster. You will also understand the motives of most of characters (not all, some of them are continued in the 3rd, which is basically a collection of side stories well-put together to expand on the story).
