It's not uncommon for doctor who to have strong female leads. Every new who companion was strong minded and stood up for themselves. They were guided by higher virtues. And would often humble the doctor when it was needed and classic who also had rebellious and strong companions. But I think RTD needs to stop getting his character inspiration from tik tok feeds.
I don't think the responses demonstrated by the new companion were warranted
