The best approach to a Mass Effect live action show would be to avoid the story of the video games completely. We already know everything that happens in the main story. Players took their preferred paths and choosing to follow one path over another will leave some fans unsatisfied. I know fans tend to loathe prequels, but there's a ton of potential in a prequel series, from humans finding the Prothean archive to colonizing the terminus systems to the first contact war with the Turians. Rather than just dropping unaware viewers into the middle of the universe to tell a wise version of a story we already know, show us something we haven't seen.
