You can't talk about open-world games without story and not have DayZ on the list. It easily knocks the boots off any of the titles named in the article. Without even trying really... But in all honesty, as an open world sandbox it has no peers. Some might mention Scum, or Deadfall, or even Rust, but for raw, visceral gunfights with nothing gamey attached- DayZ is your game.
