Hollow Knight: Silksong's Change in Protagonist Could Be the Start of a Formula
Exactly! Of course, another sequel would be nice to get, but only if they actually know what they are doing, have an idea. People were mad when Ori didn't get a third game, disrespecting studio's decision of not forcing themselves to do another game. They said that they don't intend to make a sequel in the nearest future and people are complaining. Like, we might get a third game in the further future, but just not now. Hollow Knight is made by a small studio. If I'm right, Moon Studios that made Ori was bigger, plus it had Microsoft support all the time. Team Cherry should focus on what they believe they can accomplish. They are doing great job with just doing that. That's why I don't mind waiting longer, if it means their game will be better.
While some games work with adding prequels or sequels and so on, other games just don't work well with that. Like sure, it's interesting what was the life in Hallownest when Pale King ruled. But it could simply be told in lore tablets or in other way. Because what exactly would the game without the threat be? There is a way to make that happen, like having same world with more NPC and then at one point the plague would spread gradually. But this would have to be a totally different game from gameplay perspective. And I don't believe Pale King would be best character for a protagonist anyway. Zote game could be a spin off, when what we see is his delusions. But again. We don't really need any of these. As long as they do a great job, it doesn't matter. I don't like milking the franchises and making new game as it was some mass produced thing. This would surely lower the quality of the game. Look at Assassin's Creed. Some stuff is forced just to make a new game. Especially post ACIII, but even before. And while it's cool to have another AC game, you can feel that in some cases they really just didn't know what to do.

Starr of a formula? You are called The Best War Games and you don't know anything about history of gaming? I can name multiple franchises that does this. From Metal Gear (playing as three different characters throughout the series) to Assassin's Creed, where you literally play a different guy every new game, except for the Ezio Trilogy, where you play Ezio thrice. And if we only count "character that appeared before", both Metal Gear and Assassin's Creed have this.
