It's impossible to make a movie length version of "The Stand" and do it justice. The story is just too complex. There are some things that just need to be left alone, or done only as a mini-series in order to properly tell the story. Personally, I disagree with the author; I loved the original, 1994 version. I even have the DVD and have watched it countless times. It came very close to the book - as close as you can get in translating it to screen. And King, himself, wrote the screenplay. The music set the mood of the story and, though some have been critical of it, I also thought the cast was well chosen. This story really doesn't need another screen adaptation.
