Huh? There were "machine guns" in pre-order of DS1 too. Is was the assault rifle. There was plenty of weapon variety in the first game too. While I do agree that the balance of combat to traversel needs a rework in the 2nd game, I don't see how an auto-fire weapon bonus is an indication that the combat will be better balanced, even if it is ultimately more balanced. There were plenty of weapons to use in the 1st game, just not a ton of scenarios to use them.
