I've just finished trails chapter 1 and actually just found it pretty average in every single aspect.

Characters and story more so than other areas. Had to force myself through the last quarter. And I am now playing metaphor which feels like several several steps up in these aspects.

In trails the characters feel pretty one dimensional and have limited growth as characters barring some specific end game beats with one character.

The article title and premise is also incredibly off. Trails chapter one has little to no choice aspects in it outside of some dialogue options that just give BP, almost entirely at the same vein as also mentioned Yakuza like a dragon whose only dialogue choices just affect stat growths or companion relation ship stat points
