Absolutely untrue. Contractors (aka vendors) do not work for Microsoft and therefore do not get counted in these layoffs. Microsoft is reporting the number of FTEs they are directly firing. If vendors are also let go, they are being laid off by their contracting company, not by Microsoft.
And No, they are not just guaranteed a new job somewhere else. The jobs still need to exist for contractors to fill them.
