See AllRumor: Possible Setting for Next God of War Game Leaked
If it is going to be in Egypt, then that's a stupid decision since there are a lot of loose ends in the Norse games that they could built a whole game around it. I as a true fan who played the first game within a month of its release will be very upset if they don't tell us who blew the horn.
Why the obsession with Ancient Egypt! Assassin Creed already explored ancient Egypt and they did a good job. More importantly, there is over-presentation of Ancient Egypt in media. Yet, Egyptian civilization goes back 3000 BC but we only see the period where the Ptolemaic Kingdom ended (I AM SICK OF CLEOPATRA!).
Explore Ancient Mesopotamia instead. Ancient Mesopotamia proceeded both Egypt and Greece and you can see its influence in both mythology. The pantheon of Ancient Mesopotamia has 3000+ gods, flood myth, an elaborate underworld, hanging gardens and it is the birth place of magic. Most importantly, no one explored this area before (Prince of Persia doesn't count since the setting was far more modern).
As for the casting, Santa Monica will most likely end up capturing the wrong facial features. Most Egyptian actors look Arabs or of Albanian decent. If they insist, they should target actors with facial features resembling Egyptian statues (trust me…the resemblance can be striking).
