Veilguard was well written, and the action was fantastic. People's objections to the game reveal that most gamers want games like this to be overly dark with no choice as to how the gamer wishes to play the game.
Veilguard replaced Dragon's Dogma 2 for me, because the rogue class could weild two swords (sword and dagger). This generation of gamers hates old school arcade style gameplay, they hated the way that the characters looked, and probably hated that a fan favorite didn't make it to the end.
Veilguard needed to have more content and a post game. The "failure" of Veilguard shows that modern gamers don't really know what they want. The other Dragon Age games were definitely interesting, but this one made the franchise more accessible to gamers that wouldn't have played the last two Dragon Age games.
