Unlike most of these commenters, I absolutely agree with the article. A horror game, especially "psychological horror", and even more especially a Silent Hill game, should not last for dozens of hours. The particular nightmare flavor of atmosphere that makes good horror simply cannot be maintained that long before it becomes familiar and even comfortable; i.e. No longer horrifying. Padding SH2 out with huge sprawling levels, achievements for killing x number of monsters, and freaking collectibles was grossly inappropriate.
For those (and it seems like most of you) whose primary argument is "Well a game that costs $80 should last more than 5 hours" - I agree with you. What you seem to have overlooked is that there are two variables in that statement.
