I think Stain and Dabi would make for great protagonists. I'll start with Stain. All Stain wanted was a hero that actually wanted to help people, and not just help people for money. That's why he approved of Midoriya and All Might. Now Dabi. Both Shoto and Dabi were abused by their father, Endeavor. Ultimately, Shoto and Dabi chose to pursue different paths. Dabi chose to become a villain, and Shoto chose to become a hero, and both of those are reasonable. Like Shoto, Dabi could've pursued the hero path to become a greater hero than Endeavor.
