All games will lead to some type of monotony, but as for the gameplay being poor... I would have to disagree. I've played all types of games through the years and the first game has a lot of thought and effort put into it, both in story and gameplay. If you do decide to play it, turn the difficulty to the max, as that is the only way a game like this should be played.
