During a Tokyo Game Show chat with Dragon Quest's Yuji Horii, Level 5 CEO Akihiro Hino shared that the team was originally content to leave the Layton series alone after it concluded years ago. However, it was said that several big names in the industry called for its return, including one Hino referred to as a certain Company N. Many fans believe that he was referring to Nintendo, which published all DS and 3DS Professor Layton games outside of Japan.

What Could This Mean For Future Professor Layton Games

While it isn't officially confirmed that it was Nintendo, the good that came out of this was that Level 5 decided to go ahead with Professor Layton and The New World of Steam after much prodding from industry giants.
