If you're trying to catch the elusive Prism Hercudrome in Monster Hunter Wilds, we'll show you how it's done in this guide. This little critter is one of the hardest of the Endemic Life Ecology to find and capture, as it doesn't stick around in its spot for too long. There are literally only a couple minutes of the day that the Prism Hercudrome will appear, so here's how to make the process as pain-free as possible.

The Researcher's Notes for the Prism Hercudrome gives you a small hint as to when (and where) you can find it:

"A member of the Hercudrome family with an iridescent carapace. Its pronotum is large and developed, with three prominent horns. Unlike ordinary Hercudromes, these inhabit the Ruins of Wyveria. Alas, there have been precious few sightings. Most have been at dawn or dusk, so that might be the best time to attempt and capture one."

How to Catch a Prism Hercudrome in MH Wilds

The first thing you need to know about catching a Prism Hercudrome is that it only appears in the Ruins of Wyveria, specifically on the side of a tree in Area 5 (the second level of the map). You can see the location of the tree/bug in the screenshots below:

The second thing you must know is that it will only show up for a few minutes at nighttime before morning. It's also not a guaranteed encounter, so you might need to reset your game several times to get the catch.

To make things easier, go ahead and manage your Pop-Up Camps at the Support Desk and create the Area 6: Southeast camp. This will be the safest camp near the Prism Hercudrome's spawn location, which is directly west in Area 5.

Before you head to the tree in Area 5, though, you must use your Tent to rest and change the time to Nighttime and the environment to Plenty. Now, if you open your map and then check out the Environment Overview screen on the right, you'll see the name of the biome you're currently in, which is Wyveria, and then it should say Nighttime.

However, if you tab over to the last section with R1/RB, you'll see a more detailed timeframe on the day/night cycle. Once the purple bar goes away, the morning will come in (blue bar).

  • What you need to do is change the day to Night at camp.
  • Wait in-game until there's only 3-5 minutes left before Morning.
  • Save your game in the settings.
  • Check if the Hercudrome is on the tree.
  • If it's not there, quit and do not save the game.
  • Head back in the game, fast travel to the Camp Site in Wyveria, head to the tree, and check if the bug has spawned.
  • You can basically repeat this as many times as you need to until the creature appears.
  • If you saved your game at the right time, each restart should give you a minute or two to check on the bug before Morning hits.
