  • More information will likely be revealed this summer.

The Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake is set to release by March 31, 2026, as revealed in Ubisoft's latest earnings report. After spending years in development hell, the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake appears to be steadily moving forward in the right direction.

Since being unveiled in 2020, the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake has been on a long journey involving multiple delays and ultimately a change of developer. The original release date of January 21, 2021, was pushed back time and again, before the project's development was finally moved from Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai to Ubisoft Montreal, the studio behind the original 2003 game. Following this handover, the action-adventure title was rebuilt from scratch by a new team of devs. In June 2024, Ubisoft Toronto was revealed to have joined the development efforts for the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake, which was soon announced for a 2026 release.

In its earnings report for FY2024-25, Ubisoft shared its plans for the ongoing financial year and confirmed a slate of forthcoming games, including the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake, which will hit shelves before March 31, 2026. This narrowed down the previously confirmed release window for the remake, which now falls between January 2026 and March 2026. Alongside the next release in the Prince of Persia franchise, The Division Resurgence, Rainbow Six Mobile, and Anno 117: Pax Romana are also targeting a launch before the end of FY2025-26. The source also underlined that more titles will roll out in the same window, and announcements regarding them will be made later.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake Gets Updated Release Window

  • January 2026–March 2026

With the arrival of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown in January 2024, Ubisoft marked the return of one of its most popular IPs, which hadn't seen a new major release since 2010's Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands. Following the early-access launch of The Rogue Prince of Persia in May 2024 and the impending release of the Sands of Time remake in 2026, the French publisher's inclination towards shipping more projects under the long-running franchise's banner seems stronger than it has been in some time.

Keeping in mind that there is less than a year left before the planned launch of the much-awaited Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake, it seems reasonable to expect a new look at the game later in 2025. With that said, a related announcement could arrive at the publisher's Ubisoft Forward livestream, which usually takes place yearly in June.
