Another Predator movie will be coming out this week and fans have some speculations about one sighting ahead of its release. The co-director addressed the rumored Alien Easter egg.

Predator is a long-running science fiction action-horror franchise that centers around the race of extraterrestrial hunters called Predators or Yautja. They travel across the galaxies to find worthy prey and have been targeting humans, whom they found as formidable opponents. In the recent movie from the franchise Predator: Killer of Killers, eagle-eyed fans notice a menacing Predator with a cape that appears to be a bunch of Xenomorph tails. Xenomorph is an endoparasitoid extraterrestrial species serving as the Alien franchise's main antagonist. Thus, the sighting sparks rumors of a crossover between the two massive franchises. Joshua Wassung, who co-directed the movie, addressed the rumor.

June 6 Is Going To Be A Great Day For Predator Fans

Predator fans are in for a treat on June 6 as a fresh new installment in the franchise drops on Hulu.

In an exclusive interview with The Direct ahead of the movie's release, Wassung was asked about the rumored Xenomorph tails and to confirm or deny the rumored Alien Easter egg. However, the filmmaker only said they "designed that character to be as regal as possible." The character was the product of Alex Gillis and a group of talented artists' creativity. They wanted the Predator to be as terrifying as possible. When it comes to its backstory, Wassung wanted to leave that to the fans. He explained:

But we really wanted the fans to decide where each of those crazy skeletons came from. We figured there are all kinds of fun possibilities, because it's not just one, there are a lot of them. So that's where I believe it really is up to the fans and to kind of put the history into this character.

The movie follows characters from three periods — a Viking raider, a ninja in feudal Japan, and a World War II pilot. Wassung said Dan Trachtenberg, who directed the film, inspired the plot because he wanted to "make things that are unexpected." For instance, they make the Viking era more brutal by featuring a mother and son. The duo will be facing the Predator in an unsettling environment. Then, it shifts to 1600s Japan, which features two brothers — a ninja and a Samurai. Wassung acknowledged that the second narrative is unique on its own from the other two because it has an "accelerated timeline." The story features them as youngsters in the beginning before growing up into adult fighters. The third narrative features a pilot from World War II and it's a totally different story because he faces the Predator in a unique location — in the air!

Wassung's comment about the first Predator animated movie is promising. Expectations are high after the trailer was released in April because it has impressive animation and a very interesting logline. The film follows three fierce warriors and their fatal encounter with the Predator. The three are killers, but they will find themselves in a vulnerable state as they come face to face with the Predator, who is "the ultimate killer of killers." The initial reactions to the film are generally positive. Film critic Bill Bria took to X, formerly Twitter, to share his thoughts about the film and he described Predator: Killer of Killers as the "best PREDATOR movie" since Prey. Trachtenberg directed both movies. Predator fans loved Trachtenberg's works in the franchise because he revived them by bringing back the elements they loved in the first films.
