Power Rangers is one of the most popular live-action superhero shows ever. An American adaptation of the popular Japanese Super Sentai series, Power Rangers has had many iterations since the series debuted in the early '90s. The Green Ranger originally began as an additional member of the Rangers team, but itquickly turned into a staple color in later series. This irregularity among the Green Ranger means Ranger characterizations are significantly inconsistent throughout adaptations.

Green Rangers like Tommy Oliver are consistently serious and dedicated to their duties. In contrast, Green Rangers like Mike from Power Rangers Samurai prefer to goof off, but are also the hearts of their respective teams. Recent series have only made more unique changes to the Green Ranger, making it one of the most divided positions in Power Rangers history. There have been countless Green Rangers since the beginning of the series, and some are decidedly more popular than others.

10 Jake Holling Is Often At the Mercy of His Strong Feelings

Power Rangers: Megaforce

Jake Holling

Jake Holling becomes the Green Megaforce Ranger in Power Rangers Super Megaforce. This change was likely made to allow a whole different color of rangers to be shown. Since the show's main gimmick is revisiting rangers from the past, having no Green Ranger made this rather difficult. Thankfully, Holling has access to every previous Green and Black Ranger power, including the original Tommy Oliver.

The Black Rangers typically serve as the Red Rangers' second-in-command and are often one of the most popular rangers of any given series.

Holling shares the personality with many of his other Saban-era counterparts. He is more aloof than previous rangers of the past, but that doesn't stop him from performing his duties. He is also motivated by his crush on the Megaforce Yellow Ranger Gia Moran, but doesn't let his feelings prevent him from his Ranger role. That said, if it came down to defeating the big bad or saving Gia, it becomes very clear what choice Holling would make.

9 Mike Prefers Goofing Around to Actual Training, But Holds His Own in Battle

Power Rangers: Samurai

Mike is one of the most prevalent examples of the Green messing-around Ranger trope. He doesn't train nearly as much as his companions, and is often called a slacker by other members of the group. That said, he has access to tremendous power and uses the element of The Forest to devastating effect. Like the other Samurai Rangers, Mike also has access to some of the most power-ups out of any adaption of the series before and since.

There aren't too many Purple Power Rangers in the franchise but these are the strongest of the bunch.

GIven his status as a member of Power Rangers Samurai , Mike is far from a fan favorite. That said, he is one of the most active Rangers in the modern day. He appears in the Legendary Battle, unmasked, which is a feat that few other Rangers can account for. Nevertheless, even though he often falls slightly short of expectations, Mike always finds a way to make it up.

8 Izzy Garcia Is One of the Only Women to Wear the Mantle of Green Ranger

Power Rangers: Dino Fury

Izzy Garcia

Izzy Garcia is one of the only women to become a Green Power Ranger, and is one of the most powerful of the modern Rangers. Garcia is also one of the only openly LGBTQ+ Rangers, making her a massive win for the franchise's representation. She is also an athletic track star and one of the most athletically gifted of the modern rangers. In addition to the Dino Fury Green Ranger, Garcia is also the Cosmic Fury Green Ranger, cementing her iconic Green Ranger status.

Garcia pilots both the Cosmic Chamelo Zord and the Green Tiger Claw Zord. Both are considered emlematic of Modern Power Rangers, and some of the best the franchise has to offer. All in all, Garcia is one of the most popular members of the franchise's most popular modern iteration. There have been a fair few modern Green Power Rangers, but none of them hold a candle to Izzy Garcia.

7 Trip Is the First Real Alien to Join the Official Mainline Power Rangers

Power Rangers: Time Force

Aside from Zordon, most of the original Power Rangers are from earth. This is consistently true until Power Rangers Time Force. Trip is the first ranger to originate from a planet other than earth, which is supposed to be clear given his bright green hair. Trip might look human, but he's the farthest thing from it. He also possesses the ability to read minds and see the future, but this is unrelated to his alien physiology and is extremely unreliable.

Overall, Trip is one of the most positive Power Rangers of all time. Either due to his alien upbringing or general positive temperament, he is extremely slow to anger. That said, he won't take his friends being mistreated lightly. His lovable goofball attitude is a large part of what makes him so beloved. That said, he is far from the best Green Ranger in history.

6 Xander Bly Is an Active Member of the Retro Rangers Team

Power Rangers: Mystic Force

Xander Bly is another Green Power Ranger to make use of the forest motif. He, like the other Mystic Rangers, uses magic to become more powerful. He even has a power-up exclusive to him where he exaggerates his muscles for devastating effects. Xander, like other 2000s-era Green Rangers, prefers to goof-off rather than train. However, that doesn't stop him from being an asset to his team when push comes to shove.

Bly is also a member of the iconic Retro Rangers team, containing the most iconic members of one of Power Rangers' most beloved eras. Although he attempts to be a leader at several points, Sander demonstrates that he is also able to follow orders just as well. He might not lead the rangers, but he provides a crucial cornerstone of the mystic force team. His arrogant attitude is somewhat off-putting, but it is quickly revealed as a mask for the characters' larger insecurities.

5 Cameron Watanabe Is One of the Smartest of the Mentor Rangers From the Franchise

Power Rangers: Ninja Storm

Cam Watanabe

Cameron Watanabe is one of the smartest Green Rangers in the franchise. He begins as the Ninja Storm Ranger's mentor, but quickly gains the ability to morph later in the series. He has a completely different Zord and Morpher than his companions, making him one of the most interesting characters of his specific iteration. He is also one of the only Rangers in history to share the same designation. Cam is the Green Samurai Ranger, but there is also an additional Green Samurai Ranger, Mike, in later adaptations.

In direct comparison, Cam stands out a fair bit compared to Mike given his uniqueness and more interesting personality. In addition to being one of the most unique rangers of any seasons, he is one of the few characters with the ability to manipulate Zords and Morphers. Many lack the intelligence to tamper with the morphing grid, but Cam has it in spades.

4 Joel Rawlings Has One of the Coolest Nicknames In Power Ranger's History

Power Rangers: Lightspeed Rescue

Joel Rawlings, the Green Lightspeed Ranger, has one of the coolest nicknames in Rangers history. He is often called the "Sky Cowboy" due to his signature attire and mannerisms. Rawlings is originally an aerial stuntman but is eventually chosen to become a member of the Lighspeed Rangers. Joel is canonically married to Ms. Fairweather, the Lightspeed Ranger's assistant, whom Rawlings would often flirt with during the series.

Rawlings later attends the Legendary battle, but he wouldn't demorph at that time. He might have retired from active duty, but has proven he will always willingly return to the team. Keith Robinson, the actor that portrays Rawlings, has become a somewhat prominent R&B singer in recent years. That said, the actor will forever remain famous for his portrayal of the Green Lightspeed Ranger.

Power Rangers: S.P.D.

Bridge Carson is one of the few Rangers to have more than two different roles, and eventually becomes the S.P.D. Red Ranger. Like his contemporary, Sky Tate, he regularly proves himself as an asset to the team and the Rangers as a whole. Without Carson, the S.P.D. Team simply wouldn't have survived their greatest catastrophes. He can sometimes make questionable decisions, but they come from his huge heart.

Interestingly enough, Carson also serves on the Retro Rangers team. However, he serves as the Red Ranger instead of the green. Interestingly enough, he is one of two other Green Rangers that would return to the Retro Rangers as different colors. Aside from his capable heart, Carson is a competent combatant. He is also one of the only Rangers whose religion has been outright confirmed.

Power Rangers: Zeo

Adam Park

Adam Park is the second Mighty Morphin Black Ranger after Zack Taylor. However, the character is most well known as the Green Zeo Ranger. Although he is the second Green Ranger in the series, he is the first officially attached to the morphin grid from the beginning. He eventually retires and leaves his role of the green ranger to Carlos Vallerte.

Park would have access to many of Taylor's original powers and then some. However, he would reach his peak as the Green Zeo Ranger. Due to the nature of the Z-crystals, each ranger would only become more powerful with extended use. Park would later return in many later adaptations and the Power Rangers Forever and Always special.

1 Tommy Oliver Is the Original Green Ranger and Likely the Most Powerful Ranger in History

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers

Power Rangers Megaforce Tommy Oliver in Green Ranger Gear

Tommy Oliver is easily the greatest Power Ranger of all time. He might not have been a member of the original team, but quickly became the greatest the franchise has ever seen. Many Rangers have come and gone since Tommy Oliver, but none of them have held a candle to his incredible feats.

OIliver has held the most role out of any other Ranger and is without a doubt the longest serving member of the group. If anyone embodies the true spirit of a Power Ranger, it is Tommy Oliver. He might have began the series as one of the Ranger's biggest baddies, but that doesn't stop him from becoming their greatest ally.
