Ever since Hasbro, Lionsgate, and nWay announced Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid earlier this year, fans of the popular superhero franchise have been wondering exactly when they can get their hands on a copy of the forthcoming fighting game. Now, the companies have unveiled that the title will release on March 26, 2019 for Nintendo Switch and Xbox One, on March 28, 2019 for PS4 in Europe, and April 2, 2019 for PS4 in America. The PC iteration is still slated for a launch window of Summer 2019.
It's currently unclear as to why Power Rangers: Battle of the Grid on PS4 and PC will be getting a later release date than Nintendo Switch and Xbox One, but the developer nWay did provide a statement regarding the matter. According to the studio, it wants to give access to the game as soon as possible, and that it has "worked with each platform owner to try to make that happen", with the dates given simply "reflect[ing] those results".
Beyond the the fact that PS4 players in America and Europe and PC fans will be getting to play Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid shortly after its Nintendo Switch and Xbox One counterparts, many will likely be surprised at how soon the title will be available. After all, Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid was announced with a trailer just a couple of months ago. Nevertheless, fighting game aficionados will presumably be excited at the prospect of getting to play it so soon from now.
For those who haven't been keeping up with the marketing for Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid thus far, it appears as if the fighting game will operate somewhat similarly to titles such as Marvel vs. Capcom 3 or Dragon Ball FighterZ, with players picking up to three characters for a team during each match. Should one want to get a look at a hint of what's to come, they would do well to watch Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid's 3v3 gameplay in action.
As far as the story for Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid is concerned, based on previous trailers, it appears as if players will be fighting to defeat Lord Drakkon, as he intends on staking ownership in the Morphin Grid and existence itself. It's too early to tell if the plot will be as paper thin as those found in most fighting games, but fans of the genre thankfully won't have to wait too much longer to find out what Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid has in store for them on that front.
