Poppy Playtime Chapter 5 Wrongside Outimals

Poppy Playtime: Chapter 5 introduced a new range of characters, like the Wrongside Outimals, who are actually the orphans that were turned into these living dolls. While the introduction to these creatures, Giblet and Chum, was essential, the biggest highlight of Chapter 5 was the Prototype finally getting revealed in all its sadistic glory.

Poppy Playtime: Chapter 5 Quick Ending Summary

Towards the end of the chapter, Prototype seemingly puts an end to Huggy Wuggy and Kissy Missy, some of the series' most beloved characters. After a brutal chase sequence that ends with a train crash, our unknown protagonist gets impaled by the prototype and later thrown into a vat of Poppy Gel.

The game isn't clear whether the Prototype dunks Poppy into the vat or our Protagonist.

Either way, after getting resuscitated by Giblet, the protagonist sets out to complete the objective of finding the mysterious backup. After finally arriving at the Data Center, the duo can start up the backup, which is revealed to be a stored consciousness of Harley Sawyer, The Doctor. One of the biggest mysteries of Poppy Playtime has always been the identity of the protagonist. As we witness at the end of Chapter 5, even after being stabbed through the body by Prototype, the game's protagonist still survives. Are we even human, or just another Playtime Co's test subject that returned to where it all began?

The Prototype's connection to Poppy is also something that fans have been speculating online. During the dinner table scene at Lily Lovebraid's Dollhouse, we clearly see Prototype displaying a level of affection towards Poppy, even getting surprised a bit when it ended up cracking Poppy's porcelain head.

Is it because the Prototype is somehow related to Poppy (siblings theory)? Or maybe the fact that they were Playtime Co's first experiments is the reason behind Prototype's display of care towards Poppy. These questions are left to be answered in the next chapter of the game.

Where Can Poppy Playtime Story Go After Chapter 5's Ending?

Now that we've activated the backup of The Doctor, it seems that we'll be forming a temporary alliance with him to devise a plan and take down the Prototype. Players who've been following the lore of Poppy Playtime will know the devious nature of Harley Sawyer and how he's been obsessed with the Prototype, to the point of torturing it to reveal its secrets.

It's safe to say that The Doctor will have ulterior motives while he teams up with our protagonist and Giblet to face off the prototype. But he is one of the cooler antagonists of the series, so it'll be interesting to see how things play out in the next chapter.

Is Poppy Playtime 5 the Final Chapter or Will There Be a Chapter 6? (Possible Release Date)

It's safe to say that Poppy Playtime: Chapter 5 wasn't the last installment in the series, and fans can expect Mob Entertainment to have already started its work for Chapter 6. Mob has been pretty consistent with chapter releases since Poppy Playtime 4. If they continue releasing chapters at this pace, we can expect Poppy Playtime: Chapter 6 to release somewhere around the first quarter of 2027.

As the game has revealed the big bad of the series, The Prototype, and is now leading players to a showdown with it, there's a possibility that Poppy Playtime 6 might be the final chapter of the series.

However, fret not, as this doesn't mean that the franchise will come to an end. We can expect to see Mob taking the Poppy Playtime story in a different direction, or maybe creating spin-offs with their own separate chapters down the line (similar to the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise).
