Summary

  • Pokemon Unite is expanding its roster with new Pokemon, adding Miraidon, Falinks, and Ceruledge to the roster.
  • Miraidon will be available later today with Falinks confirmed to be launching in April. Ceruledge's release date was left vague, referred to as "Coming Soon" within the trailer.
  • Pokemon Unite's newest additions look to add more unique ways for players to dive into the popular MOBA, recently debuting a new evolution mechanic with its newest Pokemon in Magikarp.

Pokemon Unite has announced the next three Pokemon set to join the MOBA's roster, featuring a pair of Pokemon from Scarlet and Violet alongside a Sword and Shield Pokemon. The roster of the Pokemon MOBA developed by TiMi Studio has expanded substantially since the game's launch in 2021. Pokemon Unite's lineup features more than 60 Pokemon for players to choose from, combining classics like Pikachu and Charizard with new creatures like Meowscarada and Urshifu. Now, three recent additions to Pokemon's cast of creatures are set to arrive next.

Since its debut, Pokemon Unite has made consistent updates to the game's roster, bringing new Pokemon to the game every month. The MOBA recently saw the addition of Magikarp as its newest playable Pokemon, tasking players with navigating its weak early game to reach its powerful endgame status as Gyarados. Magikarp also introduced a new evolution mechanic to Pokemon Unite, utilizing an "effort meter" for its evolution instead of the standard level requirement. Now, one of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's legendary Pokemon is set to join the fray.

During Tuesday's Pokemon Presents broadcast, Pokemon Unite officially revealed the next three Pokemon joining the game's playable cast. Miraidon was confirmed as the next Pokemon to join the roster, with the Pokemon Violet legendary being added to the game today. Following Miraidon, Pokemon Sword and Shield newcomer Falinks will be the next Pokemon added to the game, set to arrive during April. Ceruledge was also confirmed to be joining Pokemon Unite at an unknown date, simply listed as "Coming Soon" within the trailer.

Pokemon Unite Announces Three New Pokemon

While the trailer did not give any details about how any of Pokemon Unite's new members will play, Pokemon Unite did show a skew towards one specific ninth-generation game. The addition of Miraidon and Ceruledge introduces two Pokemon found exclusively in Pokemon Violet to the MOBA's roster. Pokemon Unite previously introduced its first ninth-generation Pokemon in December, bringing the Grass Starter Pokemon Meowscarada to the game. The Pokemon Company did not confirm whether Pokemon Unite would see the addition of each Pokemon's alternate versions, Koraidon and Armarouge.

The announcement of Pokemon Unite's newest members was joined by plenty of news for Pokemon's other ongoing games as well. Pokemon GO revealed a new collaborative event with the Pokemon Journeys anime, adding a Pikachu variant wearing Cap's Hat as well as protagonists Liko and Roy appearing in the game's photo mode. The Pokemon Company would also announce its newest major game with Pokemon Legends: Z-A debuting in 2025. Pokemon Unite players have plenty to look forward to in early 2024 with multiple new Pokemon joining the fight.
