On Reddit, user Worried_Increase_542 shared the 3D version they created of a Pokemon TCG Suicune card. Specifically, the card they based their design off of is the Suicune HGSS Promo 21 card, which was part of the HGSS Black Star Promos. The original art shows Suicune standing firm on a grassy landscape near a lake, staring at the viewer. Worried_Increase_542 has done an incredible job bringing it to life, with their version striking the same stance. In the images, the artist took the model apart, showing that the Suicune is fully three-dimensional, and stands on a grassy surface with water blasting around its feet, as in the original illustration. However, Worried_Increase_542 has also encased the 3D version in a resin box, giving it an almost underwater appearance.
Redditors Love Suicune Card Adaptation
Numerous fans have shared their compliments with the artist, professing how impressed they are with the adaptation of the original card illustration. Some were curious about how the fan made it, and they were kind enough to offer a response. Worried_Increase_542 explained that they made the Suicune with 3D modeling software, and then printed it out with a 3D printer. From there, they say it took about two weeks to get the rest done, with about 10 days of that process dedicated to setting up the resin box that surrounds the Suicune. While they professed that they wish they had done some things differently, it seems that most viewers are quite impressed with it. It may not be the last time that the artist gains attention for their creations either, as they're currently working on doing the same thing with a Lugia Legends card.
While the Pokemon games have been popular from the get-go, the Pokemon cards and anime have been providing fans with a more detailed imagining of what the creatures would be like in real life long before the Pokemon games were in 3D. A 3D adaptation like this one goes to show that these illustrations still have a place in many fans' hearts and memories.
