Eevee and its evolutions have long been some of the most popular critters in the series, and this is especially true for the Pokemon TCG. While Pokemon TCG Pocket doesn't have a card quite as sought after as Prismatic Evolutions' Umbreon in the physical card game, it does still boast some standout Eeveelutions. However, one Eeveelution in Pokemon TCG Pocket reigns supreme, and it may be hard for any future Eeveelution card addition to beat what this one offers.

For many Pokemon fans, one Eeveelution will hold a special place in their heart, but not all Eeveelutions are created equal within the video games and trading card games. In each generation, there tends to be one Eeveelution that emerges as the obvious best option among the group, and the same tends to be true for the TCG as well. Pokemon TCG Pocket seems to follow in the footsteps of the mainline video games rather than the physical TCG, with the utility of Vaporeon seeming to transfer to the mobile card game.

Pokemon TCG Pocket: Best Water Type Decks

Players seeking options for some of the best Water-type decks in Pokemon TCG Pocket can discover the most viable options through this guide.

Pokemon TCG Pocket's Mythical Island Vaporeon is the Clear Standout Among Eeveelutions

Historically, Umbreon has been the top Eeveelution in the Pokemon TCG—both in terms of battling prowess and collectible desirability. However, Vaporeon eclipses the other Eeveelutions available in Pokemon TCG Pocket with its fantastic Ability and status as the only one to receive an illustration rare so far. With Vaporeon clearly getting more love in Pokemon TCG Pocket, it may have a lead that other Eeveelutions may have a hard time catching up to.

Pokemon TCG Pocket is still missing Umbreon, Espeon, and Sylveon from the available Eeveelutions.

Vaporeon's first card added in Genetic Apex is about on par with the Jolteon and Flareon cards added in the same set. However, the newer version of Vaporeon added in Mythical Island added a unique Ability to the card that suddenly makes it a top-tier contender in the meta. Even with the additions of Leafeon and Glaceon in the latest Space-Time Smackdown set, no other Eevelution has come close to the utility of Mythical Island Vaporeon, and it may even be hard for the future additions of Espeon, Umbreon, and Sylveon to close the gap as well.

Vaporeon's Ability Makes it a Must-Use Card in Water-Type Decks

What makes Mythical Island Vaporeon so much stronger than the other Eeveelutions—including its Genetic Apex counterpart—is its Ability Wash Out. This Ability allows players to move Water energy from their benched Pokemon to their active one as much as they'd like during their turn. Since this Ability doesn't limit players to moving only one energy per turn, players with Vaporeon on their bench can potentially move all the Water energy needed to unleash the powerful attack of an EX card immediately upon playing it.

Mythical Island Vaporeon is the only Eeveelution currently in Pokemon TCG Pocket to have an Ability, giving it a major leg up on the others.

A great strategy is to pair this Vaporeon with strong cards like Articuno EX or Gyarados EX which require a lot of energy to unleash their most powerful attacks. Building up Water energy on a benched Pokemon until one of these EXs can be played allows players to conserve their energy and attach it all onto their EX card on the same turn they play it. Adding Pokemon TCG Pocket's Misty trainer card into the mix can also be a great way to manipulate the energy curve even more, which is a crucial key to success in the game.
