Fans of Pokemon TCG Pocket have blasted the newly added Dragon-type Pokemon, Kommo-o, calling it "useless" for several understandable reasons. Since the game's launch, Dragon cards have drawn criticism for their awkward setup, often requiring multiple types of Energy. This makes them difficult to play consistently, and as a result, Dragon-type decks have remained unpopular among Pokemon TCG Pocket players.

Dragon cards have become something of a running joke in the Pocket community. So far, the only Dragon-type to make a mark on the metagame has been Druddigon, while most others have been pushed aside in PvP. The trend continued with the release of TCG Pocket' s Shining Revelry set, which introduced Wugtrio ex, a non-Dragon Pokemon featuring an attack reminiscent of Dragonite. Fans were quick to draw comparisons, with many calling Wugtrio ex "a much better Dragonite." And with the new Celestial Guardians set, it looks like the Dragon-type's losing streak is far from over.

Mocking the state of Dragon-types, Reddit user Polendri shared a meme on the game's subreddit titled "It's a Dragon-type tradition at this point." The cartoon pokes fun at Kommo-o's stats, attack text, and Energy requirements, suggesting it's yet another impractical addition. For the uninitiated, Kommo-o is a Stage Two Pokemon that needs one Lightning and one Fighting Energy to deal 130 damage. The catch is that after each attack, it takes an extra 30 damage from the opponent in the next turn. In short, players feel the card's risk-reward ratio is absurd: it's difficult to set up, yet all too easy to lose.

Kommo-o Seems to be TCG Pocket's Latest Letdown

After Polendri's Reddit post ridiculing Kommo-o, some fans argued that the card's true potential is being overlooked. Several pointed out its strong synergy with the Lightning-type Oricorio, a rising star from Pokemon TCG Pocket' s Celestial Guardians expansion. Others noted that future Trainer Cards, possibly something like the physical TCG' s Double Dragon Energy, could eventually make Kommo-o a meta-shifting Dragon-type.

Some fans are already comparing Kommo-o to Pokemon TCG Pocket' s Giratina, jokingly warning that an ex variant of Kommo-o could shake up the meta in the same way Giratina ex did. For now, players will have to wait for the metagame to settle to see which cards rise to the top. However, based on current trends in PvP, it seems unlikely that Kommo-o will secure a high rank. The new set's era will most likely be dominated primarily by the Lightning archetype, leaving little room for experimental or creative decks in risky categories like the Dragon archetype.
