In its initial 48 hours, Pokemon TCG Pocket reached more than 10 million downloads. Fans can open fresh packs for free every 12 hours, but even with these free pulls, the game earned over $12.1 million in its first four days. Pokemon TCG Pocket seems likely to overtake Pokemon TCG Live, which lets players play the standard game format. According to Statista, Pokemon TCG Live was only downloaded 4.4 million times in 2023, and Pokemon TCG Pocket already eclipsed that number within its first week.

Only nine days after its release, Pokemon TCG Pocket has reached over 30 million downloads. Even with these impressive stats, it may be difficult for the TCG Pocket app to reach the same download numbers as Pokemon GO, which surpassed 678 million downloads as of August 2023. However, the revenue for Pokemon TCG Pocket is reported to be around $1 million a day, far more than Pokemon GO’s current earnings. Only time will tell if Pokemon TCG Pocket can attract more players than the massive phenomenon that is Pokemon GO, or if GO will stay on top.
Pokemon TCG Pocket Reaches 30 Million Downloads Within Nine Days of Release
Events in the app have already begun, with the first Pokemon TCG Pocket PvP event kicking off on November 7. This Genetic Apex Emblemevent rewards players with Hourglasses, Shinedust, and highly coveted emblems after several battle wins. Additionally, the ongoing Wonder Pick event is scheduled to run until November 15. This allows players to collect special Chansey and Meowth cards, in addition to Meowth-themed sleeves, coins, playmats, icons, and more in the event shop. A solo battle event is also underway, awarding promo cards such as the coveted Lapras EX.
Immersive cards in Pokemon TCG Pocket are part of the major appeal of the app. These cards feature rich 3D animations reaching beyond the borders of the card, a unique feature never before seen in a Pokemon card game before. Mewtwo EX was one of the first immersive cards to be revealed during the 2024 Pokemon World Championships in Honolulu. These cards are extremely rare and are some of the most sought-after in the game.
