In Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket, battling with other players and even setting up private matches with your friends is relatively simple. However, there are a couple of prerequisites that you must meet beforehand. First, you will need to have played enough of the game to unlock the battling features, which should automatically unlock around the level 3 mark, not long after you've completed the tutorial - as long as you continue to frequently farm missions.

Secondly, you will need to have obtained enough cards to craft at least one deck or have obtained at least one rental deck to use in battles. Custom decks can be crafted from your Collection tab, and even has an easy auto-builder feature for those who need some extra pointers. Rental Decks can be obtained through missions and Step-Up Battles.

Once you are ready to set up a battle, head over to the Battle tab on the bottom right of the screen. From here, you will be able to select Solo play (Step-Up Battles), or Versus. Go ahead and select the Versus button. From here, you can choose between Random Match, which will pair you up against another online player, or Private Match, if you'd like to play against a friend.

With Private Match, you are able to set up a room and decide on a password that you and your friend can use to be automatically matched together for battle. This password can be decided between the two of you, or even randomly generated with the press of a button.
