Strongest Pokemon Who Are Only In One Regional Pokedex

The wonderful world of Pokemon is made up of various regions, and each one of them has its own respective regional Pokedex that details which creatures can be found residing in it. Naturally, most Pokemon have appeared in more than one region and, thus, are part of more than one regional Pokedex. However, there have been some exceptions.

Several Pokemon are still relegated to being part of just one Regional Pokedex, with most of them obviously being Legendaries or Mythicals. This ultimately means that some of the most powerful ones in existence were never cataloged in another Pokedex after their initial appearance, although most of them can still be transferred over to other games, only without a written entry.

8 Melmetal

Can Only Be Found In The Kanto Pokedex

Every single Kanto Pokemon has found its way to another Regional Pokedex, but Melmetal is a fascinating exception, because it wasn't even introduced in Generation One. The Hex Nut Pokemon made its debut in the mainline series in Let's Go, Pikachu! And Let's Go, Eevee!, meaning that it has only been part of that game’s Kanto Pokedex.

Of course, Melmetal can be transferred over to Sword and Shield (where it even got a Gigantamax form), but it still hasn’t’ been part of any other regional Pokedex. And this is a real shame, because this Pokemon is an absolute beast in battle, thanks to its base stat total of 600 and its useful Iron Fist ability, which significantly boosts the power of its signature move: Double Iron Bash.

7 Ho-Oh / Lugia

Can Only Be Found In The Johto Pokedex

Ho-Oh and Lugia are the Box Art mascots of Gold and Silver and their remakes, so, naturally, they are tightly connected to the lore and story of the Johto region. But, due to this vital connection, they haven’t been part of any other subsequent Regional Pokedex.

This is very odd, because Ho-Oh and Lugia were the original box art Legendaries and were introduced more than 25 years ago. With their shared base stat total of 680 and two of the best signature moves in the game (Sacred Fire and Aeroblast respectively), other Pokemon regions would be very lucky to have these two iconic winged giants as part of their Pokedex.

6 Yveltal / Xerneas

Can Only Be Found In The Kalos Pokedex

Since Yveltal and Xerneas are the box art Legendaries of Pokemon X and Y, they are obviously tied to the lore of their home region of Kalos. But what’s especially weird is that this doesn’t apply to the third member of the Aura Trio, Zygarde, seeing as this Pokemon is also part of the Alolan Pokedex, the region where its other two forms were introduced.

But Yveltal and Xerneas should definitely be included in some other Regional Pokedex, not only because of their fascinating origins but also because they are incredibly powerful Pokemon. They both have a base stat total of 600 and can use some unique signature moves. Yveltal’s Oblivion Wing gives it a significant advantage in battle, but Xerneas’ Geomancy is one of the most broken moves in the entire franchise.

5 Calyrex

The implementation of downloadable content has made a positive impact on the Pokemon franchise, but it also resulted in some formidable creatures being stuck in the regional Pokedex of its introductory DLC. Calyrex is the best example of this occurrence, as it can only be found within the Pokedex of Sword and Shield’s Crown Tundra expansion.

Calyrex is surprisingly powerful, thanks to its Ice Rider and Shadow Rider forms, both of which have solid type combinations and can wield their own incredible signature moves: Glacial Lance and Astral Barrage. Because of these elements, both forms of Calyrex have become extremely popular among competitive Pokemon players, despite only being featured in one regional Pokedex.

4 Zekrom / Reshiram / Kyurem

Can Only Be Found In The Unova Pokedex

Generation Five’s Unova Region can be quite isolated, which has resulted in several of its Pokemon being excluded from other Regional Pokedexes. The most glaring examples are the three Box Art Legendaries: Zekrom, Reshiram, and Kyurem. The three of them are incredibly powerful, with solid stats and efficient signature moves, but Kyurem is a special stand-out.

The Boundary Pokemon is notable for having two alternate forms in which he fuses with Zekrom and Reshiram in order to create Black Kyurem and White Kyurem respectively. These two forms are not only even more powerful than its original version, but they can also use powerful exclusive moves. However, neither of them were ever cataloged in another regional Pokedex after their introduction in Pokemon Black 2 and White 2.

3 Necrozma

Can Only Be Found In The Alola Pokedex

Similarly to Kyurem, Necrozma can fuse with the other members of its respective trio – Solgaleo and Lunala – in order to create two powerful alternative forms named Dusk Mane and Dawn Wings. However, what sets this Pokemon apart is its unbelievable third and final form: Ultra Necrozma.

With a base stat total of 754 and with the ability to use Light That Burns the Sky (the strongest Z-Move in the Generation Seven games), Ultra Necrozma is extremely powerful. It’s also infamous for starring in one of the most challenging boss battles in the entire franchise. Despite all of these impressive feats, none of Necrozma’s forms has ever been part of any other regional Pokedex after the Alola games.

2 Groudon / Kyogre / Rayquaza

Can Only Be Found In The Hoenn Pokedex

As the Box Art Legendaries of the Generation Three games and their respective remakes, Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza follow the trend of only being featured in their original regional Pokedex. But this also means that their formidable alternate forms are also exclusive to it.

This means that Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre, with their base stat total of 770 (which is even higher than Arceus' BST) were only cataloged in the new Hoenn Pokedex of Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. And if that wasn’t enough, this is also true for Mega Rayquaza: This incredible Mega Evolution is slightly stronger than both Primal Reversion forms, and it's also fondly remembered for being one of the most overpowered Pokemon ever created.

1 Eternatus

Can Only Be Found In The Galar Pokedex

Despite technically not being a Box Art Legendary, Eternatus is still of vital importance for the Galar Region, as it single-handedly created the Dynamax phenomenon in the region. With its base stat total of 690 and its solid type combination of Dragon and Poison, the Gigantic Pokemon is quite an efficient fighter, but it’s also nothing special when compared to other Legendaries.

But Eternatus stands out more than any other Pokemon in the franchise, thanks to its Eternamax form. This hulking behemoth has a base stat total of 1125, which makes it the most powerful Pokemon ever created. Even though it’s mainly a boss that can’t be used by players through regular means, Eternamax Eternatus is not only 100% exclusive to the Galar Pokedex, but ir also hasn’t appeared in any other Pokemon game after Sword and Shield.
