Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have released update 3.0.1 to the masses, and it does a lot more than simply fix the issue with Dragon Cheer. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have received multiple updates since their launch in 2022. Some of these updates were announced in advance, including Update 3.0.1, which was promised to fix an issue with the Dragon Cheer move.
It was discovered that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Dragon Cheer was bugged. Pokemon that use Dragon Cheer have a greater chance of landing critical hits in battle, but the effect is supposed to go away when the Pokemon is switched out. Unfortunately, Dragon Cheer has not been working as intended, with Pokemon able to retain their increased critical hit chance even after being pulled out of battle. With this bug potentially having an impact on the competitive Pokemon scene, The Pokemon Company was quick to promise a fix, with the update originally expected to land at some point in mid-January before being pushed back to February 1.
Why Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Didn't Add Paradox Keldeo
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet had a chance to add a Paradox version of Keldeo, but it may be for the best that this never came to fruition.
Update 1.0.3 for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is live now and fixes Dragon Cheer as promised, but also makes some additional fixes. For example, prior to the update, there was a glitch where Pokemon Scarlet and Violet button input would stop working if players leveled up an Inkay to level 29 or lower using items. A bug getting players stuck between the Item Printer and the wall in the League Club Room has also been fixed, along with other "select" bugs.
Besides bug fixes, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Update 3.0.1 makes some other improvements to the Switch exclusive games. Before downloading the latest update, players needed Shieldon Claws to craft TM223 (Metal Sound), with the catch being that Shieldon can only spawn in Pokemon Violet. To rectify this oversight, TM223 no longer requires Shieldon Claws to craft.
It's entirely possible that this will be the last important update for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, but there is some evidence that fans still have at least one more big update on the horizon. A reputable leaker has teased that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are adding a new Mythical Pokemon, though that has yet to be confirmed by any official sources. Pokemon fans should take the information with a grain of salt until Game Freak, Nintendo, or The Pokemon Company decide to reveal more information about the future they have plans for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Update 3.0.1 Patch Notes
- If the player used items to level up an Inkay to Lv. 29 or lower, the game would stop responding to button input. This bug has been fixed.
- Some materials needed to craft TM223 (Metal Sound) were previously dropped by a Pokémon that appears in only one version of the game. This issue has been resolved. Shieldon Claws are no longer required to craft TM223 (Metal Sound).
- After players installed the Item Printer in the League Club Room, under certain circumstances players could get stuck between the Item Printer and the wall. This bug has been fixed. Affected players can now get unstuck by speaking to the character next to the Item Printer and selecting “I want to print something!”
- When a Pokémon under the effect of Dragon Cheer was switched out of battle and then reentered that battle, its attacks would still have a heightened chance of landing critical hits. This bug has been fixed.
- Certain moves that Calyrex could learn via TM only while united with Glastrier or Spectrier would remain in Calyrex’s move set even after Calyrex separated from Glastrier or Spectrier. Furthermore, even if those moves were forgotten, Calyrex could then remember those moves without being united with Glastrier or Spectrier. This bug has been fixed.
