New Pokemon TCG Cards Revealed at Pokemon World Championships
The Pokemon World Championships 2024 reveals a new set of cards coming to the official trading card game later this Autumn season.
The Pokemon Company International confirmed Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks will be the eighth expansion in the series and release on November 8. The English set will contain over 250 cards and feature artwork from the Japanese Paradise Dragona expansion. Fans can expect to grab the regular assortment of products, including Booster Packs, Blister Packs, and Elite Trainer Boxes, and the set will include eight ACE SPEC cards, nine Stellar Tera Pokemon ex and nine Pokemon ex cards, 23 illustration rare Pokemon, 11 special illustration rare Pokemon and Supporter cards, and six hyper rare gold etched cards.
Pokemon TCG: Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks Expansion Announced For November
The main attraction of the Surging Sparks set is the rare Stellar Tera Pokemon ex cards, with one of the nine featured pocket monsters being Pikachu and its powerful Topaz Bolt attack. Mighty Pikachu’s Tera Raid encounter in the Pokemon Scarlet & Violet video game is light work compared to the electric mouse’s tabletop presence, and also joining the Stellar Tera card list will be Alolan Exeggutor ex, Latias ex, Archaludon ex, and other Dragon-type Pokemon.
Pokemon TCG players can play with the Surging Sparks set ahead of the expansion’s main launch by attending one of the pre-release tournaments in the Play! Pokemon program. Tournament commentators previously grappled with the Pokemon Scarlet & Violet tournament’s AI tool called Pokemon Battle Scope, which effectively threatened their role, but hopefully, the Surging Sparks events will be in good spirits.
Announced in tandem with the Surging Sparks expansion, The Pokemon Company also revealed the all-new Pokemon TCG: Grand Adventure Collection in collaboration with Pokemon Horizons: The Series. US fans became impatient during Pokemon Horizons’ delayed English release on Netflix, but the TCG collection’s promo cards and appearances from dual protagonists, Liko and Roy, should abolish past grievances.
