Supposed Pokemon Scarlet and Violet "leaks" have been hitting the Internet on a near-daily basis since the games were announced, with varying degrees of legitimacy. Some Pokemon Scarlet and Violet leaks do seem to be based on somewhat reliable information, whereas others are likely to be completely fabricated. Fans should treat every leak with a grain of salt and come to their own conclusions as to whether or not they can be trusted.

The latest Pokemon Scarlet and Violet rumor comes from YouTuber SwitchForce, who relays a bold "leak" about the number of Pokemon that will be featured in the new games. According to SwitchForce's info, the number of new Pokemon introduced to the franchise in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet could be on the level of Generations 1, 3, and 5, with potentially over 130 new Pokemon in the games. SwitchForce describes it as a "massive, massive expansion of the already massive roster."

Besides brand-new Pokemon that could debut in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, it's also expected that there will be some regional variants as well. Ever since Generation 7, Nintendo and Game Freak have remixed older Pokemon with new looks and typings, and if the leaks are to be believed, that will be returning in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Some potential Pokemon Scarlet and Violet regional variants have been mentioned in other leaks, but fans should definitely keep their expectations in check until there are some official reveals.

As it stands, there are only three new Pokemon revealed for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet in an official capacity. The Pokemon Scarlet and Violet starter Pokemon were revealed alongside the game's first trailer, with players able to look forward to Sprigatito the grass-type, Fuecoco the fire-type, and Quaxly the water-type. There will certainly be more new Pokemon joining the starters, but it remains to be seen if there will really be over 130 as this latest rumor claims.

Besides new Pokemon additions, there are other rumors floating around about Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. For example, there are those that believe Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's gameplay gimmick will be all about altering the types of existing Pokemon to give them new looks and moves.

If there's any truth to these rumors, Pokemon fans should find out in the months ahead. A solid release date hasn't been nailed down yet, but Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are launching later this year, so one has to imagine that the marketing push for the games will heat up in the relatively near future.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are in development, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
