A new bug has been discovered by a Pokemon Scarlet and Violet player, which added to the growing list of performance issues and reported glitches. However, this bug in particular may benefit some Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players out there that have two controllers ready to go. The glitch was posted in a video on Reddit, where it received a great deal of attention and added commentary.
Since releasing on November 18, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have admittedly gotten off to a shaky start. Videos have been posted across social media, each adding to detailed reports of performance issues and jarring glitches across multiple parts of the game. With these games starting the ninth generation of Pokemon games, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are a controversial yet trending topic on social media and have put both Nintendo and The Pokemon Company under scrutiny as a result.
One of the more fascinating glitches comes from a Redditor by the name of hamsterhead64. In a video post on the Nintendo Switch subreddit, hamsterhead64 claimed that connecting a second controller made the player character move twice as fast as intended, which led to some interesting sequence breaks throughout the games. The Reddit user said that this was done by moving the left stick diagonally on both connected controllers, which caused the speed glitch to occur. The post received over 16K upvotes on Reddit in under a day, and the comments ranged from jokes to praise for hamsterhead64 and their findings. This glitch's discovery came alongside other sequence-breaking glitches that players have discovered, with one of them using reverse long jumps to get across Scarlet and Violet terrain that players cannot easily cross during the early parts of the game.
Even though the Paldea region is presented in an open-world format, players have already determined paths to take for challenging each Team Star Boss, Gym Leader, and Titan Pokemon based on the levels of the Pokemon featured within each challenge. Between the movement-based glitches and the loose sequence of objectives, players looking to speedrun Pokemon Scarlet and Violet in the future will have a lot to consider when doing so. Whether any future patches released by The Pokemon Company will eliminate these glitches or not is another matter altogether.
While some players have taken the glitches and issues in stride, others have made their displeasure abundantly clear. Some disgruntled Pokemon players have successfully asked for full refunds of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet as a result of these issues. With just weeks to go until Christmas, and a few days to go until Black Friday, it remains to be seen if and when The Pokemon Company will apologize for the issues or release any future patches to address them. Either way, the social media buzz around Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is unlikely to go away anytime soon, for good or for bad.
