Pokemon Scarlet and Violet pulled back the curtain on the second Seven-Star Tera Raid boss to arrive in June, as Emboar the Unrivaled will be the next challenge for seasoned trainers to battle. Emboar the Unrivaled is the second new Fire-type starter Pokemon to appear in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet as a raid boss, following Blaziken's appearance in January.
Known as the Mega Fire Pig Pokemon, Emboar first appeared in Pokemon Black and White. Emboar is the final evolutionary form of Tepig and Pignite, the Fire-type starter of Pokemon of the Unova region. Emboar is also the last Fire-type starter Pokemon to have Fire and Fighting as is types, alongside Blaziken and Infernape. Emboar is a powerful Fire Pokemon who can surprise most foes thanks to its high HP and attack power, alongside a versatile move pool. However, Emboar's weaknesses lie in its low defense and speed, making it a glass cannon. In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Emboar can be obtained by catching a Tepig in the Terarium and evolving it into Pignite beforehand.
With the Swampert Tera Raid battles now concluded, The Pokemon Company will have a new challenge for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players. According to Serebii.net, the Seven-Star Tera Raid battle against Emboar the Unrivaled starts on Thursday, June 13, at 8:00 PM Eastern, and ends on Sunday, June 16, at 7:59 PM Eastern. Trainers unable to participate that weekend will have another chance a week later, from June 20 to 23 at the same start and end times. Emboar the Unrivaled will carry the Mightiest Mark, and have the Electric-type as its Tera type. Emboar will have its Hidden Ability called Reckless to compliment its Tera type, which boosts the potency of moves that deal recoil damage.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Seven-Star Tera Raid Versus Emboar (June 2024)
Some of the moves Emboar can learn in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet which benefit from Reckless include Wild Charge, Flare Blitz, Double-Edge, and Head Smash. Emboar can also use Fighting-type attacks such as Close Combat and Bulk Up to finish foes quickly. Though Emboar the Unrivaled retains its weakness to Ground-type Pokemon attacks, it can use Grass-type moves like Trailblaze and Grass Knot to cover that base. Ground-type Pokemon used in competitive battles, such as Gastrodon, Quagsire, or Great Tusk, may be handy for taking Emboar down.
Emboar's inclusion in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet as a Tera raid boss means Incineroar is the last Fire-type starter that has yet to appear in this manner. Only time will tell how the battle against Emboar the Unrivaled will play out.
