Summary
- Use Krookodile or Primeape with Anger Point to counter Tyranitar's high critical hit chance effectively.
- Tyranitar's Ghost Tera type in Seven-Star Tera Raid challenge makes teamwork vital to overcome its high defense and attack power.
- Utilize Krookodile's max EVs and Dark Tera Type with moves like Breaking Swipe and Power Trip to defeat Tyranitar solo.
During the Tyranitar Seven-Star Tera Raid event, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players shared strategies that revolved around using Krookodile and Primeape as the main focuses. Both Pokemon Scarlet and Violet strategies used Pokemon that had the Anger Point ability, which was used to turn Tyranitar's high critical-hit chance against it.
Tyranitar is the pseudo-legendary Pokemon of the Johto region, known as the Armor Pokemon. Tyranitar evolves from Pupitar at level 55 and usually has the unique type combination of Rock and Dark. In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's latest Seven-Star Tera Raid challenge, Tyranitar's Tera type is instead the Ghost type, which enhances its defenses. Tyranitar the Unrivaled uses the moves Shadow Claw, Stone Edge, Crunch, and Earthquake regularly, and uses Focus Energy and Dragon Dance at set intervals. Although Ghost Pokemon are weak against Dark and Ghost attacks, Tyranitar's type coverage and high attack power require teamwork to overcome.
Pokemon Fan Makes Incredible Discovery in Storage Building
A Pokemon fan makes an incredible discovery inside their storage building, and surprises the community by revealing what they've found.
Although Tyranitar the Unrivaled is a formidable challenge, some Pokemon trainers have developed ways to defeat it in solo play. On the r/PokemonScarletViolet subreddit, a Redditor named Emekasah shared a strategy that used Krookodile as the main focus. Emekasah credited a YouTube user named JohannaDarner with the build. Krookodile has the hidden ability Anger Point, which maxes out its attack power after taking a critical hit, which often happens due to Tyranitar using Focus Energy at the beginning of the battle.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Players Share Tyranitar Tera Raid Solo Strategies
Krookodile's attack and defense effort values (EVs) were set to their maximum, and it was given the Dark type as its Tera Type. Krookodile's primary moves were Breaking Swipe, Power Trip, and Taunt, which were used to control Tyranitar's damage and prevent it from using Dragon Dance if timed correctly.
Though Krookodile was required to take a knockout, the Intimidation Pokemon used Power Trip after Terastallizing to take the win. Krookodile can be obtained in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet after gaining access to The Indigo Disk. In a separate r/PokemonScarletViolet post, Reddit user Alpha_Clement used a Primeape with the Anger Point ability to beat Tyranitar in seven turns. Despite Tyranitar and Primeape having the Ghost Tera type, the latter's Rage Fist move gains strength as its user takes more hits. Primeape's Shell Bell allows it to heal for a portion of the damage done, allowing it to endure Tyranitar's Shadow Claw even after Terastallizing.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players who miss out on facing Tyranitar the Unrivaled will have another chance starting Thursday, April 3, at 8:00 PM Eastern. What surprises await Pokemon trainers in future Tera Raid battle scenarios remains to be seen.
