Summary

  • Players can use strategic stat-boosting moves like Calm Mind and Simple Beam to quickly defeat Swampert the Unrivaled in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
  • By leveraging abilities like Simple, Decorate, and Stored Power, players can exploit Swampert's weakness to Psychic-type attacks effectively.
  • Max out EVs for specific purposes, equip items like Life Orb, and coordinate team moves to create successful strategies against tough raid bosses.

A Pokemon Scarlet and Violet player known for creating clever Seven-Star Tera Raid strategies shared their methods for quickly defeating the latest boss, Swampert the Unrivaled. The Pokemon Scarlet and Violet player posted a video that showed the steps they took to beat Swampert and shared how it could be done with different Pokemon.

Known as the Mud Fish Pokemon, Swampert debuted in Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire as the Water-type starter of the Hoenn region. As the fully-evolved form of Mudkip and Marshtomp, Swampert is normally a bulky, Water and Ground Pokemon and a mixed attacker. In the latest Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Seven-Star Tera Raid, Swampert the Unrivaled was given the Poison type as its Tera type and remains a mixed attacker. Swampert the Unrivaled can use the moves Muddy Water, Liquidation, Earthquake, Hydro Pump, Sludge Wave, and Yawn during the battle, which can cover several Pokemon types. However, Swampert has a glaring weakness to Psychic and Ground attacks.

As a result, Swampert's weakness to Psychic-type damage was the crux of one Pokemon Scarlet and Violet player's latest strategy. A Redditor named Hoopawho posted a video on the r/PokemonScarletViolet subreddit of their efforts to defeat Swampert the Unrivaled in under two turns. Hoopawho and their teammates used Farigaraf, Latios, Alcremie, and Dipplin to pull off their strategy. On the opening turn, Farigaraf waited for Latios to use Simple Beam on it before enhancing its statistics with Calm Mind. With Simple Beam, the target Pokemon's ability changes to Simple, which doubles the power of stat-enhancing moves. Alcremie used Decorate on Farigaraf to further boost its special attack stat. Dipplin used an Attack Cheer and ate a Kebia Berry to lessen the impact of Swampert's Sludge Wave.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: How To Quickly Beat Swampert The Unrivaled

  • Team members: Dipplin, Alcremie, Latios, Farigaraf (Mewtwo and Latias can work instead of Farigaraf).
  • Each team member has maxed-out EVs depending on their purpose, and both Dipplin and Farigaraf held a Kebia Berry and a Life Orb respectively.
  • Turn one: Latios uses Simple Beam on Farigaraf, and Farigaraf follows up with Calm Mind. Alcremie uses Decorate on Farigaraf, and Dipplin uses an Attack Cheer.
  • Turn two: Latios uses Helping Hand on Farigaraf, and Farigaraf unleashes Stored Power on Swampert, instantly defeating it.

On turn two, Latios followed up with a Helping Hand on Farigaraf for one final boost. Farigaraf then used the Psychic-type move Stored Power, instantly knocking out Swampert. Hoopawho showed that the same methods could be done with Latias or Mewtwo instead of Farigaraf, and a Croagunk in place of a Dipplin. Known for their work for quickly taking down Primarina the Unrivaled in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Hoopawho said that each Pokemon had certain effort values (EVs) maxed out, depending on each Pokemon's intended purpose. The Stored Power users had their HP and special attack stats maxed out and held a Life Orb to ensure a decisive finish.

Though Swampert the Unrivaled is a formidable foe, a well-equipped Pokemon Scarlet and Violet team has proven effective against it. What other strategies players will create next remains to be seen.
