Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are three months away from release, and while The Pokemon Company released a third trailer just a week ago, the bits of information surrounding the new pocket monsters available in Gen 9 are very few. In fact, most of the news about Pokemon Scarlet and Violet comes from alleged leaks and rumors that surfaced online over the past few months, with some being confirmed to be real from fellow leakers who have supposedly gotten access to the games prior to release. An example comes from Riddler Khu, who leaked that players would be able to ride Gen 9 Legendaries to explore the region.
Still, there are only 11 confirmed new Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, which includes the three starters, the three early Route Pokemon revealed in June, the box Legendaries, and the pocket monsters revealed with the third trailer for Gen 9. Fans are still very much in the dark when it comes to many monsters available in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, including the starters' evolutions and other Legendaries, to the point that Gen 9's third Legendary hasn't been revealed yet if it's there in the first place.
Today, Riddler Khu shared new interesting details about four new Legendary Pokemon coming in Gen 9, supposedly some that have to do with the four towers scattered across the Paldea region. Based on the community's response to the riddles, Centro Leaks then shared the likely interpretation of what Khu meant, which is that the four new Legendaries in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will be based on the Four Dragons from ancient Chinese myths. Because Khu revealed the initials of the four species, it's possible that they will be based on the White Pearl Dragon, the Yellow Dragon, the Large Great Dragon, and the Black Dragon.
Despite the creatures these Pokemon seem to be based on, none of them are actually Dragon-types in the games, according to the leaks. Khu recently hinted at a sushi-like Dragon Pokemon recently, however, but that doesn't seem to have anything to do with today's leaks and the four Legendaries, which instead are likely to be similar to those of Pokemon Sun and Moon, instead. Still, it would be interesting to see how Pokemon Scarlet and Violet can mash up Chinese myths with the culture of the Iberian Peninsula, which is the main inspiration behind Paldea.
It's not unlikely that some of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's new Pokemon or features were actually foreshadowed or predicted by other Pokemon media, as that's something that happens quite frequently. An example is that an old anime episode may have predicted Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Terastallization in the form of Crystal Onyx, a rare Pokemon that was never part of the games. Whether the four Legendaries will prove to have been hinted at much earlier remains to be seen, but the new leaks are compelling nonetheless.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet launch on November 18, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
