Summary

  • Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are hosting a special holiday event featuring a massive outbreak of Delibird, a Christmas-inspired Pokemon.
  • The event started on December 21 and will run until December 24, allowing players to capture as many Delibirds as they want.
  • There is an increased chance of finding a shiny Delibird during the event, making it a great opportunity for players to catch one.

The creators of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have announced that a new holiday event is live, spawning a massive outbreak of Delibird in the game. Last year, Delibird was featured in a Tera Raid Event during Christmas, and this year repeats the tradition of featuring the Ice/Flying-Type creature during the holiday.

Delibird originally appeared in the second generation of Pokemon games. Ever since its debut, it stood out as one of the most Christmas-inspired creatures of the franchise. While the lore does not state that its bag actually carries gifts for kids who behave well, it’s clear that its looks are inspired by Santa Claus, and Delibird was even featured in a special Christmas episode of the TV show.

Now, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have officially started the Delibird Mass Outbreak Event, which is a special time-limited Christmas event. Starting back on December 21, the event will continue until December 24 at 3:59 PM PST. During this time, massive numbers of Delibirds will appear in Paldea, Kitakami, and Blueberry Academy, and players will be able to capture as many as they want. Also, the chances of a shiny Delibird appearing will be higher than usual, so this will be a good occasion to try to catch one. To participate in these events, players need to have Pokemon Scarlet and Violet updated and have the latest version of the Poke Portal News installed, which can be done via the game’s menu.

When Does the Delibird Mass Outbreak Event Start?

  • The event is already live, and it will last until December 24, 2023, at 3:59 PM PST.

Normally, Delibird can be found in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet by visiting the regions around Glaseado Mountain and the North Province. The Pokemon also comes with an exclusive future Paradox version in Pokemon Violet called Iron Bundle, but not in Pokemon Scarlet, which only features past Paradox creatures. To capture the Paradox Delibird in Pokemon Violet, players need to go to the Zero Gate to enter Area Zero inside the Great Crater of Paldea, and then to Research Station No.1, where they can find this creature in the grass.

While Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are currently having these Christmas events, the game is preparing for its probable last hurrah. January 11 will mark the release of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s epilogue. This short event will be set in Kitakami, mark the ending of the story that began in the game’s The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC, and bring back some characters like Penny, Nemona, and Arvin. At the moment, it’s not yet known if it’ll feature new Pokemon, though.
