Like many games, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are not immune to visual glitches, and the series has had its fair share of creepy moments over the generations. However, nothing could have prepared fans for something like this.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are the current mainline entries in the iconic nine-generation-deep franchise, and while they enjoyed immense popularity among fans thanks to their reworked game formula, they were initially criticized for poor graphics, performance, and an abundance of glitches and bugs. While the games have since become stable, every now and then there comes an issue nobody was expecting at all.

After a month-long break between battles, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet announce the next Seven-Star Tera Raid boss for trainers to take on.
Over on r/PokemonScarletViolet, Redditor Extension_Major_9013 shared a photo from their playthrough of Scarlet and Violet in which enlarged images of a black-colored eye suddenly appeared on the game's menu screens. They claim that they were just editing the moves on their Haxorus when the eyes abruptly appeared. It's not clear whether Extension_Major_9013 were able to make the images go away or how long they appeared.
The Glitch Likely Involved Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Iris Color Texture
Fellow Redditors had some jokes about the occurrence, ranging from naming it a new creepypasta to calling it a biblically accurate Haxorus, referencing the descriptions of angels in the Bible in which they are surrounded by many eyes. Unsettling graphics glitches are nothing new for the Pokemon franchise, and while there's a perfectly rational explanation – another Redditor suggested that Extension_Major_9013's copy just had a bug involving the iris color texture that players choose from at the beginning of each playthrough – these incidents naturally lend themselves to a multitude of scary urban legends involving the games.
Despite this, not all glitches are creepy. A useful bug that players discovered this year saw a way to get unlimited items in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, but the developers were quick to patch it and shut the exploit down, even if the cheat was a bit complicated to pull off.
Meanwhile, all post-game expansion DLCs for Scarlet and Violet have already been released; as of now, there don't seem to be any plans to follow up The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero. However, that doesn't mean there won't be any more new content coming for the game. There are a lot of limited-time distribution events for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet that give away a lot of freebies to players, with the latest one being a special competitive Gyarados to celebrate the Pokemon Asia Championships. Between these and a robust game world in Scarlet and Violet, fans will have their hands full for a while.
