As Pokemon fans are likely very familiar with, leaks surrounding new Pokemon games are shared daily and are often fake. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are no different in this regard. There are fake leaks regarding new Pokemon, gameplay features, and especially regarding Pokemon evolutions. Sometimes these leaks are accurate, though. A 4Chan Pokemon Scarlet and Violet leak that few believed was accurate at the time has now been proven true, for example.
This past week Nintendo held a special Pokemon Presents presentation featuring announcements for several Pokemon games. The day before the Pokemon Presents event, a post on 4Chan went up with a variety of information about what would be included in the show. It specifically focused on Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, ignoring the other games in the event. Many dismissed it as fake at the time, but it's now confirmed to be entirely correct.
The 4Chan post starts by stating that the Pokemon Presents presentation will be 19 minutes long and half of it will be dedicated to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. This is accurate, confirming that the leaker had access to the video before it went live. They go on to name the biggest reveals of the event, including the region's Paldea name, NPCs including Clavell, Penny, Grusa, Arven, and Jackq. They even mention each of the new Pokemon revealed, including Fidough, Cetitan, and Paldean Wooper. It's all in the post.
It's entirely unclear how the leaker gained access to the Pokemon Presents video early, but it's not unbelievable. These videos can be shared early with partners, or there are the employees directly handling the presentation itself. There's always the possibility of employee friends or family gaining access to the video, too. It's happened before. Since 4Chan posts are anonymous, there's no way to find out who shared the leak.
What makes the leak fun is that few people believed it was accurate when it was first shared. Further, since 4Chan is anonymous, there's no way to tell if this person will ever share more information in the future. It's more likely that many will claim to be the notorious Pokemon Scarlet and Violet leaker, only to share fake info. It's all been for moot.
It just goes to show that of the dozens of leaks surrounding Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, or any Pokemon game for that matter, there are sometimes very real leaks. That's a big part of why Pokemon fans love to follow leak stories surrounding the franchise so closely. Who knows, the Fuecoco evolution confidential art leak could be real.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet release on November 18 for Nintendo Switch.
