A talented Pokemon fan has created regional forms for Applin and 12 other Pokemon from different generations. Pokemon fans are constantly expanding the concepts introduced by the franchise in very creative ways. A recurring theme in the artwork of many Pokemon artists is regional forms, a concept first featured in Pokemon Sun and Moon.
Regional forms feature Pokemon from other regions that change design and type in that particular region. Two famous examples are Vulpix and Ninetales, originally Fire-type Pokemon, which in Alola are Ice-type and change their appearance drastically. Other regional forms much remembered by fans are the Galar variants of the Legendary Birds of Kanto, known as Galarian Birds, giving a complete makeover to Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres. The regional form concept is very popular in the Pokemon community, and one fan recently used their creativity to make new variants for different critters.
Pokemon Fan Discovers Rare Card in Trashcan
A Pokemon fan is in for a big surprise when they check a trashcan and find a very valuable card in the last place they expected.
Reddit user SayuriKoopa created new regional forms for Applin and 12 other Pokemon, achieving a result that won praise from other Redditors. The first half of the fan art shows Fidough and Dashbun as Fairy/Dark-type canines with a bread design, and Applin, one of the most peculiar Gen 9 Pokemon, has become a Fairy/Dragon-type that resembles a pastry/bread. Its evolutions followed the same theme, with Flappe having the design of a sandwich and Appletun that of a latte, while Dipplin and Hydrapple are the different "stages" of a birthday cake.
Talented Pokemon Fan Shares Regional Forms For 13 Pokemon
Coming out of Gen 9, the second half of the post features Cottonee, a Gen 5 Pokemon, and Whimsweet, as Normal/Fairy-types that might remind Pokemon fans of the popular sweets called macarons. Yamper, the adorable Corgi-based Pokemon, and its evolution Boltund are Gen 8 critters turned Ice-type Pokemon very similar to the Siberian Husk, a canine found in cold regions. The Gen 3 Pokemon Snorunt received, along with Hoodlay, a new Fairy/Dark-type design on the lines of "Little Red Hood, but Pokemon."
That isn't the first time SayuriKoopa has shared their impressive artwork, having previously created regional forms for Goodra and other Pokemon. As with previous fan art, the artist goes one step further and creates Hoodlay, an evolution for Snorunt, and Whimsweet, a new form for Cottonee that originally evolves into Whimsicott when exposed to a Sun Stone. In both cases, the OP shows off their creativity by exploring the original designs, making Pokemon fans dream of other regional forms that could feature in future Pokemon games.
