Pokemon Red Rescue starts with a personality test to determine the player's Pokemon, followed by their selection of a partner from a list of remaining options. These two Pokemon are a final decision and will be the leader and right hand of every mission and dungeon for the rest of the main game.
Players can choose to recruit additional Pokemon to their rescue team, though it is not a straightforward process. Players can choose to bring two additional party members to a total of four in most dungeons.
Pokemon: 6 Hardest Rival Fights
The Pokemon franchises makes players face off against some pretty difficult rivals, but these are the toughest among them.
How To Recruit Pokemon In Red Rescue Team
To recruit Pokemon to your rescue team, you'll first need to progress through the main story until you reach Mt. Steel. This is the third dungeon of the game and will be your fourth adventure. This dungeon also is the home of the first boss of the game and can be difficult if you try to rush straight to this point.
After finishing Mt. Steel, Magnemite will try to join your team, triggering a trip to Wigglytuff the next day. Wigglytuff is found in Pokemon Square and is the furthest shop to the right before reaching the Pelipper building. After talking to Wiggletuff, you'll get Friend Areas and can now recruit Pokemon in dungeons. When defeating enemies in dungeons, they will have a chance of surviving and ask to join your rescue team if you have their Friend Area unlocked.
- Only Pokemon defeated by your leader may ask to join but it doesn't happen every time.
- You'll need to have purchased that Pokemon's Friend Area.
- The defeated Pokemon must be standing one tile away from the leader.
- There must be a slot available in your party, only four party members can be had at a time, or fewer if large Pokemon are with you.
- The newly recruited Pokemon must survive the dungeon to be fully recruited and useable later on.
Legendary Pokemon can be recruited but only after beating the base game.
6 Hardest Pokemon Spin-off Games, Ranked
These Pokemon games differentiate from the main series titles in more ways than one, with their punishing difficulty being a notable change.
Picking The Right Friend Zone
Friend Zones are found by following the path to the left of your house, with Wigglytuff selling more Friend Zones as the game progresses. Wigglytuff's second menu option is, "Check". This is a master list of every Pokemon you've met and will tell you what Friend Zone you need to purchase to recruit that Pokemon. Only Pokemon you have met can be checked, incentivizing additional trips to dungeons you have already competed to recruit specific Pokemon.
Each Friend Zone has a limited number of spaces, which can be seen when traveling between Friend Zones. You can choose to dismiss specific Pokemon from a Friend Zone in order to make more room for better Pokemon you want to recruit.
