Updated on January 22, 2025, by Ben Painter: Charizard is one of the most famous and popular Pokemon in the franchise, second only to the series mascot, Pikachu. Game Freak is especially fond of this fire dragon, regularly giving this Pokemon new forms and prominently featuring it in the games. Fans of the Pokemon Trading Card Game know that a Charizard card has a special weight to it compared to others. But how much is a Charizard worth? Pokemon cards have gained a boost in popularity thanks to the mobile game Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket, with fans looking to get their hands on some physical cards. This list has added five new entries, including some rarer and even more expensive Charizard Pokemon Cards.

20 Special Delivery Charizard ~ SWSH Black Star Promo

$53+

Special Delivery Charizard
A Charizard card when it's delivering packages
  • Ungraded: $53.20
  • PSA 10: $262.76

This may be one of the rarest Charizard Pokemon cards in existence as they were never properly released. While originally teased to be coming out in 2020 as part of a special promotion for fans ordering items from the Pokemon Center in the United States and Canada, the card seemingly disappeared and never officially hit shelves.

However, some must have escaped the Pokemon TCG vault as there have been a few listings of the cards, which have all sold for over $425. Some value the card at several thousand dollars due to its unique nature. But it has now rounded down to a fairly modest price in comparison to some of the other Charizard cards. As Special Delivery Pikachu and Special Delivery Bidoof were also extremely popular and still sell well on the secondary market, this card may be even more valuable than we could imagine.

19 Charizard ~ Legendary Collection

$61+

Charizard Legendary Collection
A shiny Charizard card
  • Ungraded: $61.85
  • PSA 10: $1,326

While there are countless stories of people spending ridiculous amounts on the original Charizard card, the majority of card owners don't have them in the kind of mint that demands eye-popping prices. The majority of cards from Base Set 4 have a value of around $355, while those from the original set tend to go for around $223.

However, the version of the card with the same art from the Legendary Collection tends to pull in a more modest sum. The original Charizard card has an insane value, and it is one of the most sought-after by collectors. But this could be a more appropriate version for the less wealthy fans.

18 Charizard ~ Stormfront

$154+

Charizard Stormfront
Charizard card reminiscent of the base set art
  • Ungraded: $154.74
  • PSA 10: $9,500

For fans of the original Charizard Pokemon card, this release was a welcome addition to their collection. It has the same moves and ability, with the only major difference being slightly updated art.

If fans are seeking out Charizard cards for their collections this one will be a decent one to pick up as it will not break the bank. However, if collectors are looking for a PSA 10 rating, then they will be looking at paying almost $10,000 to do so for this one. Fans do love Charizard and will go to extreme lengths to prove how much this fire/flying type means to them.

17 Charizard ~ 1999 CD Promo

$196+

CD Promo Charizard
A Charizard card in Japanese
  • Ungraded: $196.50
  • PSA 10: $804.47

A special promotional CD was released exclusively in Japan on January 1, 1999. It came with some incredible promotional art inside alongside a random selection of promo cards. Anything Charizard makes Pokemon fans go crazy.

As the CDs themselves tend to sell for hundreds of dollars when they appear on auction sites, it makes it expensive even to go home to receive one of these rare Charizard Pokemon cards. Those that do, though, can make quite a bit of money, with some selling for over $800 on eBay.

16 Charizard ~ Battle Road Spring

$242+

Charizard Dragon
A Dragon type Charizard card
  • Ungraded: $242.54
  • PSA 10: $4,055.80

While the commonly found version of this card in English is also quite valuable at an average of $242, it's the version that was released exclusively in Japan that truly brings in the big bucks.

These were only available at events back in 2006 and players had to get past the preliminary rounds of tournaments to even get one. With how hard these were to come across, they're particularly valued by collectors today. Make sure to lock it away in a special place to avoid any chance of this being stolen.

15 Charizard EX ~ Pokemon Fire Red & Leaf Green

$327+

Charizard EX #105 Pokemon Fire Red & Leaf Green Pokemon Card
  • Ungraded: $327.03
  • PSA 10: $4,520.35

Released to go along with the Pokemon Red & Blue remakes, Pokemon FireRed & LeafGreen. This special version of Charizard was an EX, which, of course, comes with stronger moves and more HP to use in Pokemon TCG battles.

The Pokemon anime has been around for a long time. As such, it's worth considering which seasons are the best of the bunch.

Ungraded, this one goes for around $327, but if fans would like a perfect version for their collections, they will be looking at paying beyond $4,000. Compared to some other entries on this list, it is actually a respectable figure, but one only serious collectors should be looking to pay.

14 Dark Charizard ~ Pokemon Japanese Web

$328+

Dark Charziard 42 Pokemon Japanese Web Pokemon Card
  • Ungraded: $328.82
  • PSA 10: $1,099

This card was first released in the Team Rocket expansion back, later reprinted in the Japanese Pokemon Web expansion, which doesn't include English printing as it was a Japan exclusive.

This means that the price is quite a bit higher and this Charizard card has a price of around $328. PSA 10 grading means that the price (team) rockets up to $1099, with the last sale according to Pricecharting.com. Dark Charizard has a certain ring to it and the original card is one for collectors, although not as rare as this edition.

13 Charizard GX ~ Pokemon Hidden Fates

$384+

Charizard GX
A shiny Charizard on a foil card
  • Ungraded: $384.66
  • PSA 10: $750.54

While the card wasn't very useful in competitive fire decks, its rarity and the fact that it features the iconic shiny Charizard on the front made it extremely sought after by collectors when it was released.

Now it's still valuable for those trying to collect every version of the fiery dragon or those who just want something shiny to display to show their love of the Pokemon. It just goes to show that not every single Pokemon needs to be perfect in a battle to still be loved.

12 Charizard GX ~ Pokemon Japanese Battle Rainbow

$452+

Charizard GX Pokemon Japanese Battle Rainbow Pokemon Card
  • Ungraded: $452.96
  • PSA 10: $1,425

Available for just a bit more than the previous entry, at the lowest, this Charizard GX card has a beautiful rainbow look to the card and there is no question as to why gamers want to add this one to their collection.

The 45 Most Horrifying Pokedex Entries Across The Pokemon Games

There are some truly terrifying Pokemon out there, and their horrifying Pokedex entries only drive that home.

Released in 2017 as part of the Sun & Moon series of cards, so fairly new in comparison to some of the other entries on this list. How much is a Charizard worth? With a PSA 10 grading, it is priced at around $1,425, not the most expensive card but still a hefty price for any non-collector.

11 Charizard ~ Plasma Storm

$449+

Charizard Plasma Storm
A shiny Charizard on a card
  • Ungraded: $449.84
  • PSA 10: $7,850

It comes as no surprise that another card featuring a shiny Charizard is coveted by fans. The dynamic art by Ayaki Yoshida is wonderful to look at even if the card doesn't have much use in competitive play.

This card in perfect condition can even pull as much as $7,850 at auction. Shiny Charizard's black color scheme is one of the best in all of Pokemon some fans may even think it improves the design. There is something about a black dragon that makes it look even more iconic. See Mega Charizard X for perhaps the best Pokemon design ever.
