A Pokemon nature documentary fan series released its third episode on YouTube, and the third-generation critter called Spheal was featured. With animations that made Spheal and other icy creatures look realistic, viewers praised the Pokemon fan project for its attention to detail and for making Spheal look adorable.

Known as the Clap Pokemon, Spheal first appeared in Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire. Spheal is an Ice and Water dual-type Pokemon based on sea lions, with a spherical body that it uses to roll around rather than walk. Spheal evolves into Sealeo at level 32 and Walrein at Level 44 and can be found in cold caves and polar ice caps. While Spheal is an adorable Pokemon, it is among the few that were not included in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet or The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC. At the time of writing, Spheal and its evolutions previously appeared in Pokemon Legends: Arceus as part of a side mission that players can undertake.

Pokemon Fans Should Keep an Eye on August 20

There's a chance that big Pokemon news could be announced on or around August 20, so franchise fans should mark their calendars accordingly.

While tributes to Spheal via various crafts have been done before, a group of Pokemon fans dedicated an incredible video to it as part of an ongoing series. The YouTube channel EnlargedKai uploaded the third episode of its Pokearth web series, titled "Life of a Spheal," on July 18. This Pokemon fan project is done in the style of a nature documentary series, with the previous two episodes focusing on Clodsire and Magikarp. The Spheal episode lasted just under four minutes. To start, a view of an icy region was shown, with narration from Twitter user NeverNotNinjas. Seconds later, a Spheal woke up from a nap, and the camera zoomed in on its fur and the snow that covered it. The Spheal then rolled toward the water and called for its mother, a Walrein, by tapping on its belly.

Pokemon Fans Create Spheal Nature Documentary Video

The Spheal featured in the episode was said to be a week old, and much smaller than its brother. As the two rolled on the ice, both found themselves isolated on the back of an Avalugg, a giant iceberg Pokemon, and in the middle of cold water. A blizzard then set in, which caused both of the young Spheal to tremble and shut their eyes, as their layers of blubber had not fully developed. Thankfully, the Avalugg instinctively turned back toward the mainland, where Walrein greeted both Spheal upon their safe return. The video was praised by Pokemon fans for its attention to detail, and the adorable depiction of Spheal.

While Spheal and its evolutions can still be caught in Pokemon GO, that has not stopped fans from remembering them in other projects. With Pokemon Legends: Z-A in development, only time will tell if the Clap Pokemon will come back.
