While many would look to some of the most popular mainstays of the series for Pokemon Halloween costumes, this young fan chose one that's a little different, picking the cute but mysterious Mimikyu to dress up as for the holiday.

Reddit user fraughtwithperils has shared an image of their child wearing the adorable Mimikyu Halloween costume. The costume looks perfect, doing a wonderful job of recreating the iconic Pikachu disguise that Mimikyu hides its true form under. According to the parent, their daughter loves Mimikyu and specifically wanted to dress up as it for the holiday. In all, creating the costume took about four hours, with the parent and child making it together.
How the Mimikyu Halloween Costume Was Made
According to the parent, the costume started out with two identical hoodies. One was mostly kept as-is, with some cuts made to create the jagged and torn look the Pikachu disguise inherently has. Fraughtwithperils made the ears and sleeves from pieces of the extra hoodie, while the tail was constructed out of a repurposed log cushion. The face of the Mimikyu was made with wool and stitched onto the top of the hoodie. The eyes were painted on but needed a bit of a redo, as they ended up drying badly and made Mimikyu look creepy. The duo tried again, drying it flat so the paint wouldn't run, added sequins to create a sparkle effect.
As one might expect, Pokemon fans have been extremely enthusiastic about the creation. Fraughtwithperils and their daughter have been praised for the effort, execution, and one has even joked about also being fraughtwithperils's child so they too can get a cool Mimikyu costume. Fraughtwithperils has said that while their six-year-old didn't appreciate the creepy look of the dripping eyes that the Mimikyu costume initially had, the costume might get an intentionally spooky overhaul in the future by giving it a distressed and worn-out appearance. For the present, though, the costume is a great recreation of the Pokemon's design. Considering that Mimikyu just wants to find someone who will appreciate it, it would probably be happy to know that there's such a big fan out there.
