A Pokemon fan has showcased their artistic skills by imagining a regional variant for Meganium in Pokemon Legends: Z-A. As the next installment in the franchise, Pokemon Legends: Z-A looks to bring a new adventure for players to check out in the Kalos region. While players don’t know all the Pokemon coming in the game, they do know Chikorita will be one of the starters, meaning Meganium will likely appear.
Introduced as part of Gen 2, Meganium is a classic Pokemon that many fans are familiar with. As the final form of the Grass-type Chikorita, Meganium takes elements of the starter design and expands on it, adding a vibrant flower and long neck. While some fans think the Pokemon could receive a regional variant in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, nothing has been confirmed. However, that has not stopped one fan from imagining what one could look like.
Pokemon Legends: Z-A Fan Shows Off Hex Maniac Cosplay
A Pokemon Legends: Z-A fan wastes no time after spotting a Hex Maniac in the game's teaser, crafting an impressive cosplay based on her redesign.
A Reddit user known as FallinDevast has created a regional variant for Meganium, achieving an impressive result. In the image, the pink flower from the original Gen 2 Pokemon is retained. However, it is reimagined as insect-like wings. In addition, this regional variant loses the traditional long neck in favor of an extended tail that can roll up. Despite these drastic departures from the classic Meganium look, FallinDevast kept the Pokemon’s green coloration and antennae. However, these appendages were reworked to curl at the tip. According to the artwork, the new Meganium variant kept the original Grass typing and added the Fairy type, something that is being teased for Chikorita's evolution in Legends: Z-A.

The reception for this new regional variant has been positive on Reddit, with numerous users upvoting the post. Many have applauded the design, with some seeing a bit of Dragonite in the new Pokemon. In the comments, FallinDevast provided some more details about the regional variant. According to the fan artist, this version of Meganium was smaller than the original, coming in between Chikorita and Bayleef.
While this new regional variant for Meganium is making waves on Reddit, it is far from the only fan creation shared by the Pokemon community. As anticipation builds for the Pokemon Legends: Z-A, fans post unique art, showcasing their creativity and passion for the franchise. For example, many have shared Mega Evolution concepts, such as an incredible Mega Typhlosion concept.
Despite Pokemon Legends: Z-A still not having a release date, players recently learned lots more about the game during the recent Pokemon Presents 2025 event. In addition to other announcements about the franchise, The Pokemon Company revealed a closer look at the upcoming title taking place in Lumoise City. While fans now know more details, such as who the starters will be, some things still have to be revealed. Players will have to wait and see if the new additions include a regional form or Mega Evolution for Meganium.
