Things To Do After You Beat Pokemon Let's Go

When Pokemon: Let's Go Pikachu & Eevee were first announced for the Nintendo Switch, old-school fans of the series were delighted. Returning to the magical world of Kanto, the games feature the original 151 Pokemon as well as one or two special additions. Unlike the original games, however, there are still quite a few fierce battles to be fought even after the Indigo Plateau.

Much like many of the recent Pokemon games, Let's Go Pikachu & Eevee have plenty of post-game content that should keep players busy long after they've become the Pokemon Champion. There are plenty of compelling reasons to stick around for a little while longer, whether it be catching additional Pokemon or seeking out new and more challenging opponents.

So, gamers may want to get their Pokemon fix by playing a different game while they wait for the release of the next entry, Pokemon Legends: Z-A. Why not head back onto Pokemon Let's Go: Pikachu or Let's Go Eevee and try to 100% complete the game on the Nintendo Switch? There is lots to do after the Elite Four & Champion have been completed, and this update adds even more things to do in the Pokemon Let's Go: Pikachu & Eevee post-game.

1 Buy Some Outfits For Pikachu & Eevee

Gamers Can Dress Up Their Partner Pokemon

• Things Required: Money

Throughout the game, players are given outfits for their characters from various NPCs in the Kanto region. Each of these outfits comes with a cap for either Pikachu or Eevee, which matches the costume of the player.

There are a few other hats that can be purchased for the in-game currency from the Celadon Department store. Also available are various glasses, bows, and flowers — trying to collect them all could be something to do in the end-game. The big prize of this is the Crown, which costs a staggering $999,999 from the Celadon Department Store. It will be a massive grind to get this amount of cash. Only worth it for those looking to collect everything and anything in Let's Go Pikachu & Eevee.

2 Collect All Of The Alolan Forms

Different Versions Of The Original Kanto Pokemon

Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu & Eevee are unique in the franchise for taking things back to basics and only including the original 151 Pokemon in the game. However, there are a few exceptions, and these are the Alolan forms of certain Pokemon, which can be traded to the player by an NPC and are found in the Pokemon Centers of every major town or city in Kanto.

These Alolan forms were originally introduced in Pokemon Sun & Moon as regional variants of some Red & Blue Pokemon, which have different appearances and types. Although these Pokemon don't add to the Pokedex total, it is nice to catch them in order to fully complete the game.

3 Collect All Mega Stones

Mega Evolution was originally introduced in Generation 6 with Pokemon X & Y. Certain Pokemon are granted an extra evolution that can only be done in battle with the use of a held item, a Mega Stone. Other than that generation, the gimmick was largely forgotten about in the franchise. An often-overlooked fact is that Mega Evolution is present in Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu & Eevee.

There are a total of 15 to collect in the game. Four of those are given as part of the story, for the evolved form of the Kanto starters. Another two, for Mewtwo, are rewarded for defeating Green. The rest can be purchased from a man dressed as Slowpoke in The Pokemon League. Make it the player's goal to collect them all!

4 Buy The Pokeball Plus And Catch Mew

The Only Way To Get The Mythical Pokemon In The Base Game

Out of the original 151 Pokemon, the mythical Pokemon Mew is the hardest to acquire. Back in Pokemon Red & Blue, it was only available through in-person events. The trend of this being the case continued in the remakes, Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu & Eevee.

The only way to get Mew on the Nintendo Switch title is to purchase the additional controller, the Pokeball Plus, which came with a code for Mew to be added to the Pokedex. This comes with an additional cost, an unnecessary one, as the game can be played with the regular Nintendo Switch joycons. Some fans even prefer doing so. However, to complete the Pokedex, it is required. Unless fans want to trade a Mew from Pokemon Go, or another game.

Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu & Eevee have the unique trait of only having the Pokemon from the region it’s set in to be available in the game (aside from the Alolan forms of Kanto Pokemon). However, there are two exceptions to this: The Mythical Pokemon Meltan and its evolved form, Melmetal.

These elusive Pokemon are only available in this game in a special way. When a Pokemon is traded from the mobile game Pokemon Go onto the Switch, a Mystery Box will appear in Pokemon Go. This will allow the Meltan to spawn, and then it can be traded into Let's Go. Meltan cannot be evolved in Pokemon Let's Go, so Melmetal must be evolved on Pokemon Go and then traded over, using 400 Meltan candies.

It would be wise to take on the Gyms for a second time for a tougher battle to really put the player's Pokemon skills to the test. Each trainer now has a team of five for the player to take on, all matching the type of their Gym. Unlike the regular playthrough of the game, these Gyms can be taken on in any order.

Gym Leader's Rematch Teams:

7 Rematch The Elite Four & Champion

Stronger Teams & New Pokemon

Once the Gym Leaders have been taken care of, the Elite Four and the Champion can also again be battled. Their teams have been upgraded with higher levels, new Pokemon, and even some Alolan forms of Kanto Pokemon.

It will take some battling expertise to master the final chapter of the game for the second time. The Elite Four now have a full team of six Pokemon, with a few different variations of their typings, so it is not a straightforward affair when it comes to type match-ups. Make sure to assemble a strong team of Pokemon, as they cannot be switched out of the party once entering the Indigo League. Also, stock up with plenty of items to heal Pokemon after each battle.

8 Fly!

Take To The Skies With Select Pokemon

After becoming Pokemon Champion, players will be able to select a second Pokemon to travel alongside them and their starter Pokemon. Choosing Charizard — or any other large, Flying-type Pokemon — will enable them to soar above buildings and walls, which can make traversing the game's world considerably easier.

In addition to this, players will also be able to encounter other Flying-type Pokemon while they're up in the air. Many of these are fairly common Pokemon like Spearow and Pidgey, although, on rare occasions, Charizard and Dragonite can sometimes spawn.

9 Finish Catching The Legendary Birds

Articuno, Zapdos & Moltres Are Available

• Location: Seafoam Islands (Articuno), Victory Road (Moltres), Power Plant (Zapdos)
• Things Required: A Strong Pokemon Team, A Lot Of Ultra Balls Or The Master Ball

The three Legendary Birds can technically be caught before heading to the Pokemon League — Articuno in the Seafoam Islands, Moltres on Victory Road, and Zapdos at the Power Plant. While the first two are en-route though, Zapdos is pretty out of the way, meaning that many players skip catching it the first time around.

For those who didn't find time to visit the Power Plant or, for whatever reason, didn't catch Articuno or Moltres, doing so after becoming Champion is an absolute must. Each requires players to solve a puzzle to get to them, although they're fairly easy to catch once they've been encountered since they cannot run away.

Unlike the locations of the Legendary Birds, the Cerulean Cave cannot be accessed until after players have emerged victorious in the Pokemon League. In the cave, dwelling deep within its depths, players will find the incredibly powerful Mewtwo.

This level 70 Pokemon is nowhere near as easy to catch as the Legendary Birds, so many players opt to save their Master Ball for this occasion. His immense power makes this a pretty tough battle, as too does the five-minute timer. It's therefore a good idea to save beforehand, although thankfully, defeating the Elite Four again will cause him to respawn if players run out of time or are defeated.
