With Pokemon Legends: Z-A coming out as soon as in two months and a few days, there is a lot still to learn about what the game will offer, what kind of designs the new Mega Evolutions that are in it will have, and more. The most recent trailer for the game came out with the July Pokemon Presents showcase, but a few lingering questions remain, and more trailers would need to be released to address everything before launch. Pokemon Legends: Z-A fans may be in luck, though, as more news may come out very soon - on August 17, specifically.

Considering that Pokemon Legends: Z-A's new Mega Evolutions are a huge driving factor for community hype and the fact that no other mainline game will come out this year, with Gen 10 looking at a 2026 release, there's ample room to go ham on reveals before launch to keep players engaged. Pure gameplay footage longer than a few seconds has yet to surface, for example, and showing more Mega Evolutions than just Mega Dragonite would be fantastic. For those looking to learn more about all this, it's likely that August 17 will provide some answers, as it's the final day of the World Championships in 2025, which typically includes a new trailer for upcoming releases.

The fact that there is going to be a demo of the game at the World Championships this year is a great sign for those hoping to see more of the game, and not only for the lucky ones who could get a slot in time for the activity. The demo is about battling, chasing Zygarde, and then fighting a rogue Mega Evolution in Pokemon Legends: Z-A with Lucario as a partner, most likely showcasing live how Megas work in the game.

Considering that this is confirmed, and it's happening as soon as tomorrow, there is a strong chance that there will be a new trailer on Sunday, August 17. The last day of World Championships typically includes a trailer during the closing ceremony, and with August 17 being just two months away from Pokemon Legends: Z-A's launch on October 16, it seems like the perfect date to hold the tradition in place. However, there is also a chance that this Sunday will break this longstanding tradition.

  • Worlds 2024 had announcements about Pokemon GO, Unite, TCG, and TCG Pocket
  • Worlds 2023 had announcements for Pokemon TCG, Unite, and Scarlet and Violet's The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC
  • Worlds 2022 had announcements for Pokemon TCG and updates for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Why a Pokemon Legends: Z-A Trailer Needs to Address Its Biggest Unanswered Questions

If a new trailer drops, it should be bigger than the last or at least match it. Considering that players will have a demo available at the event, there is no reason not to have a dedicated gameplay trailer that shows battles in depth, alongside the new Mega Evolution meter in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, which could give players a better insight into how often they will be able to Mega Evolve their critters. Since there are seemingly no new Pokemon species or forms in the game, it all hinges on the Mega Evolutions, and if the meter charges too slowly, it could kill the vibe for fans.

Pokemon Presents mega dragonite

Likewise, with 26 new Mega Evolutions leaked for Pokemon Legends: Z-A, there needs to be more than a couple revealed before launch, as they will be one of the driving factors for players to purchase the game and be excited for it. Mega Dragonite can be enough for some fans, but for those who don't particularly like this specific critter, they may need more.

As such, assuming a trailer is indeed going to be shown at Worlds 2025, it can't be a generic one, and it needs to hammer home all the key points that fans are interested in before launch. If this doesn't happen or there is no trailer in the first place, August 17 may turn from a potentially great day for Pokemon Legends: Z-A into a big disappointment.
