In P okemon Legends: Z-A, Goomy, the pure Dragon-type Pokemon, only shows up in Lumiose City when it is raining. In addition, Goomy’s first evolution, Sliggoo, can only evolve into Goodra during the rain. Because of this, knowing how to change the weather in PLZA is a requirement for players looking to complete their Pokedex.

Forcing weather conditions to change to rain in Pokemon Legends: Z-A is not very difficult, but it isn’t something explicitly explained by the in-game tutorials. As a result, some players may be confused about what they need to do in order to make it rain in Lumiose City. Here’s how it works.

How to Make it Rain in Pokemon Legends: Z-A

The main way to make it rain in Pokemon Legends: Z-A is by passing time by resting at a bench or by sleeping in your bed in Hotel AZ.

To rest, interact with any bench in the city and select “Kill some time here.” Confirm when prompted, and the time of day will change from day to night or night to day, depending on the current world state. Each time this happens, the weather resets, with a chance that it will rain.

Every Pokemon Center in Lumiose City has a bench near its entrance.

The main weather conditions in Pokemon Legends: Z-A are sunny, cloudy, hazy, and rainy. Weather changes don’t follow a set pattern and appear to be random, meaning the number of times you’ll need to rest in order for the weather to switch to rain is up to chance.

Sliggoo can evolve into Goodra during rainy weather, but only when it is at level 50 or above.

From our testing, once it starts raining, it will keep raining for at least the remainder of the day or night, or for up to two full days. A rainy weather icon also appears at the top right corner of the pause/map screen to indicate the weather change.

Side Mission 64: Let it Pour, Let it Rain can force rain when players talk to Cielestine after she starts the quest and select the “Yeah, I’ll wait here” option. However, this rain only lasts for the duration of the battle against Cielestine’s rain team, and the weather immediately returns to its previous state.
